Having a buddy makes all the difference. I have three actually! One for P90x, one for running, and one for 6week6pack. I hope you really enjoy your bonding time with your mother in law. You are so lucky to have a good relationship with her, most people don't (like me). How long do you have until the wedding? What are your goals?
