What a Journey this is!
I was a stay home mom of two who has now graduated, since both my children, a girl and a boy, spend the majority of the year away now. It's MY time at life now, and before I start working I want to take my body back, so hubby and I can enjoy things like traveling, hiking and camping, riding rollercoasters, and hopefully going to visit grandchildren in the not-too-distant future. I started off with 150 lbs to lose. I worked with a wonderful personal trainer for 2 years, and started ...
I worked with a wonderful personal trainer for 2 years, and started coming here for additional ideas, information and motivation. I want to be able to travel and enjoy it, and be healthy and functional. My current motivating goal is to be able to hike to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. November 4, 2009 Update: I am now working on my fitness on my own. Last March my trainer moved out of state. I tried to work with his replacement trainer, and did for a while, but ultimately it didn't work out. So now, with the help of SparkPeople, the wonderful friends I've met here, my training partner Kelly, and some great class instructors at my gym, I am attempting to continue and complete the weightloss part of my journey. Along the way, I've had some injuries and setbacks, but still I am having a blast discovering who I am and what I'm capable of. Consistency counts. In this whole process. You don't have to be perfect. I've been far from perfect. But an overall pattern of consistently good nutrition and hard exercising has been the key to my weightloss and can be the key to yours as well. It's an amazing journey I'm taking. My life is changing in ways I never dreamed possible. Yours can too. Just make the choice. Don't wait for "motivation" to come knocking. Just decide, and then do it. You'll NEVER regret it.

My Goals:
Get down to 135. Hike Half Dome in Yosemite Nat'l Park. Get to where I can obtain my first ever passport and not cringe when people look at my picture (at least because of my size!). Totally WOW my wonderful hubby!!
My Program:
Weight Training two to three times a week. Cardio 5-6 days a week, 45+ minutes at a time, running, cycling, elliptical or other. Various Cardio classes like Boot Camp, Pilates, Treadmill or Spin to keep things interesting. Eat healthy, focusing on lean protein, veggies, and quality carbs in the right amounts, and JOURNAL IT!
Other Information:
I love Lord of the Rings, both the books and the movies, Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, and L. M. Montgomery, as well as Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, Piers Anthony and Tom Clancy. Someday I'd love to travel to England, Ireland, New Zealand, and wherever else the Spirit takes me.
