A Year From Now You Will Wish You Had Started

"A year from now you will wish you had started" by Karen Lamb, speaks to me. I have lived in denial for many years now; I don't even recognize my own reflection in a mirror or window. I have decided that I need to make a lifestyle change in regards to my health and weight. I have to put myself first and take this weight off!

I am so thankful for my loving, supportive family. They have encouraged me to put myself first and now it's time for me to do just that!

My Goals:
I have A LOT of weight to lose, so I can't focus on that right now or I'll become overwhelmed. So, for now I'm focusing on making lifestyle changes a little at a time.

Goal #1: Track food and drinks every day on SparkPeople.
Goal #2: Workout at least 3 times a week. Cardio and resistance training.
Goal #4: Drink as much water as possible, it makes me feel so much better!


My Program:
I'm a notorious yo-yo dieter...You can always expect me to try out new plans and I'm even better at not following them for longer than a week or two! This time is different. I'm going to eat sensibly and I'm going to be consistent. I find that my body is very sensitive to preservatives, so I'm trying hard to budget to only buy fresh, whole foods.

Personal Information:
I'm from a northern suburb of Chicago, IL. but have recently relocated with my husband to Houston, TX for his job. I miss my family, friends and familiar places dearly, but need to use this time to focus on myself and my health. My plan is to get out and enjoy more of what is available at my fingertips in this beautiful area and state! I need to take advantage of the year round nice weather to get out and about. I'm a notorious stay in kinda girl, so I need to make a change and be more active outside of the house! Pics to come of my adventures!

I ALWAYS find myself eating while watching television, so my plan is to craft, craft, craft when I need to sit down and relax with my husband in front of the TV. I do want to reduce the amount of time we watch television, but for now I need to make small goals and small changes otherwise I become overwhelmed and give up. I definitely am one of those "All of Nothing" personalities. I need to work on that, but again baby steps to my goal.

Hi Ash! Here's to our best year yet coming up :) I have to admit, 2011 was a huge flop in the weight loss department, but I'm geared up and ready to go! I hope you have a wonderful new year!

Ash, you rock :) I have to remember to have protein after workouts- I was doing so good about that, but then I started hoarding my calories for a bigger dinner, lol. The "floating elliptical" is a name I gave this elliptical machine at my gym that has a couple different means of motion. You can go from a regular stride to this super long stride, or you can start climbing "stairs" in place (it's bizzare how the range of motion can change on this machine). Broccoli is the BOMB (especially with olive oil and lemon juice0 :) How's your week going?
