2011 is going to be MY year!
2010 was fabulous. I had some wonderful experiences, overcame challenges, pushed myself to new levels of fitness. I did what I thought was impossible. For the first time in my life, I felt comfortable and happy being me.
2011 is going to be even better! I will push myself and my limits. I will pound the pavement harder, I will focus on healthy eating and I will learn to love what I see in the mirror every day. And I will not quit. Because my happiness and my health lies in my hands and is my responsibility. Happy New Year and Happy New beginnings!
2011 race schedule (so far):
March 20: Columbia Tower stairclimb (69 flights of stairs)- DONE in 19 minutes!
June 11: Furry 5K- DONE in 33 minutes!
July 16: Warrior Dash 5K (obstacle courses and mud!)- DONE 7/16
October 23: UW Dawg Dash
November 12: Pineapple 5K
Being active has never been a problem for me. I was an athlete throughout my childhood and up until college, when I essentially stopped working out.
I've always had an unhealthy relationship with food, however, and watching the scale go up and down has been both frustrating and motivating. I reached my highest weight in 2005 (245lbs at 5'9), but it took me two and a half years before I actively started to do something about it. I joined weight watchers and lost 30+lbs, which inspired me to commit to my own health. Two years later, I'm still here, fighting the good fight.
In the last 8 months (beginning in 2010), I've made fitness a major priority in my life. While my weight is still not where I'd like it to be, I am proud to say I am in the best shape of my life thanks to SparkPeople. I ran my first 5k this Summer (this coming from a chroninc non-runner) and work out 6 days/week, including 3 days of running. And, I actually like it. Who knew?!
Up next? Scale progress, and P90X.
Bring it on!
And I feel better every day!
UPDATE: I dislocated my ankle in early August 2010, and was unable to be active for approximately 8 weeks. I'm just getting back into my activity now (Late Sept) but I'm going to make progess in the next few months and finish the year strong! Whoop whoop!

Happy Belated Birthday, DONE GIRL
The Aries woman wanted to be like her Dad, so she loves to be outdoors. She probably was a "Tomboy" growing up but in most cases she didn't get the attention from her Dad that she wanted. So as an adult she can be much to overbearing for many men. She gets along with Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, Libra and Aquarius. She needs to avoid Scorpio, because he MUST control any relationship he is in and he will not allow her to be in charge, so even though she thinks he is mysterious and she loves to "get the bad boy", she won't end up well with him. She often works in Psychology since she thinks she knows all the answers that others need, but is amazed when people aren't interested in taking her advice. She is a natural athlete and her weight issue is all of her own doing as she can be the leader of the gym.
In Aries, the Sun is highly action oriented. You like to do your thing, and you are opinionated and direct in doing it. Your Aries personality constantly wants to charge ahead, and insists on being the one who organizes, rather than ever allowing yourself to be led or organized by others. You have a hard time recognizing any point of view except your own. Highly action oriented, when an idea strikes you, you are off quickly to carry it out. Yet you are not so good in seeing projects through to a conclusion. Follow-up and finish work are not matters that suit your style. You constantly need new goals, new projects, and new challenges.
You are a quick learner and a self-starter; enthusiastic and curious. The main challenge for an Aries Sun sign native is the control of impulses. You must avoid scattering forces, for if you can learn to think before taking action, your energetic nature will enable you to do much. Natural impulsiveness and inability to listen to the advice of others sometimes involves you in difficulties. To succeed, you must learn to think everything through carefully before you proceed. Patience and the ability to plan are areas in which you may have to apply extra effort. You must reflect on the total effect of your actions to grow and progress in life.
You may have a sharp temper and a quick fuse as Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet associated with war and combat. Fortunately, you get over anger as quickly as it comes, and you never hold a grudge. You are neither devious nor subtle in your actions. Many Aries Sun natives are down right blunt. Only with concentration and attention can you ever acquire much diplomacy and tact.
With your natural Aries inclinations, you have a true adventurer's or pioneer's spirit; a longing for independence and a tendency to fancy yourself as a free soul. Born to lead, but not born to handle the mundane responsibility or bureaucratic red tape. When faced with complex details, you become very frustrated. Fully matured, your Aries spirit aspires to a gallant "never say die" attitude, and a willingness to take advantage of each new opportunity that comes along.
