Hello everyone! I've just started SP and have to say that I LOVE the support and tools on this site.

So, a little about myself: I am a 37, almost 38 year old single mother of a beautiful 7 year old girl named Olivia. I also gave birth to a beautiful little girl named Bianca who was still born. Bianca was my second child and losing her was very difficult.
I have been over weight my whole life. A combination of lack of self esteem and emotional eating over my lifetime ballooned me to an outlandish weight of 298 lbs at the age of 26. I tried everything out there to lose the weight and came to the decision to have gastric bypass surgery in 2000.

In the two years that followed I lost an amazing amount of weight and was able to keep it off. I went from 298 lbs to 135 lbs. I felt fabulous! I had energy, I felt beautiful! Then the curve ball came. The loss of my father. He passed at the age of 52 from cancer.

Remember, I'm an emotional eater. In the year that followed I watched the scale climb. I was also suffering from severe acid reflux and had to change my diet as the fresh veggies and spices I used aggravated the reflux. I could eat carbs and very lean protein but even the protein was limited as it wouldn't pass through my stomach. I was back to 220 lbs.

I met a man that loved me anyway. We got married and started a family. After both of the pregnancies I gained more weight. I had grown to 240 lbs. My husband started drinking very heavily after the loss of our baby and we eventually divorced.

Earlier this year, the acid reflux got even worse. After 10 years of this terrible "new" diet, sleeping sitting up in a recliner or propped up on a stack of pillows I went to see a new Dr. He found that my original gastric bypass surgery was done incorrectly which was the reason I was having the reflux. I had correction surgery in October to reroute my intestines and I haven't had any acid reflux since.

I have been able to start a new healthy diet, but I have to admit that after 10 years of eating the way I had been it's become sort of a habit. I'm so used to having the reflux and eating a certain way to keep the reflux at bay that I forget that veggies and spices are ok for me to eat now.

I have lost 38 lbs since October and I'm proud of the accomplishment but have noticed that I'm plateauing. I need to use this site to track my food. I also need to kick up the activity A LOT! I've become docile.

I would appreciate any encouragement you have to offer and advice you may have about activities that I can do with my daughter.
