Hello out there in Sparklandia!
My name is Erika, and I am a proud midwestern gal living in Iowa with my adorable cat, Darla. I originally joined sparkpeople in June 2010 with the greatest of intentions: to lose some excess weight I had been carrying around for a while. At the time, I was working in sales with some crazy hours; convenient eating, social drinking, and treating my coworkers with baked goods were my jam. Ehem... did someone say jam? ;)
I had some success with my first experience, and lost ~40 lbs. Then I met my boyfriend. I don't know about everyone else, but it seems like when I'm in a relationship with someone, ordering pizza and snuggling watching Netflix seems like a MUCH better idea than working out. The little devil called 'comfort' reared it's ugly head, and here I am, almost 5 years later and almost 70 lbs heavier. Oof.
The last 5 years have been an interesting ride: I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Dec 2013, quit smoking in January 2014, changed careers in April 2014, and have battled PCOS and depression (not an easy thing to admit, but true) throughout it all. Oh, and I turned 30!
Here I am currently. I'm moving into a new apartment- sans boyfriend. I have a job at an analytical testing facility working with Feed/Grain clients, and I love it! I'm 98 lbs from my goal weight of 200 lbs, and I'm okay admitting that. I'm starting over with several things in my life, and although I'm terrified to be stepping outside of my comfort zone, I am excited as ever to seize the day and enjoy every moment.
*big goal is 75 lbs... but I like to take baby steps. I have a reward system I am going to try below. Ultimately I am aiming for 50 lbs by Christmas, 2014.
*to make healthier choices in my eating habits and NOT stress eat
*to not rely on fast food just because of my schedule... I want to pack healthy lunches and snacks so I don't need to stop at fast food joints
*to feel comfortable in my own skin!
I plan on getting another gym membership in the next week, and then working out 3-5 times a week.
I've been tracking my foods on the nutritiontracker, and logging my exercise as well.
I will be eating more fiber rich fruits, veggies, and whole grains.
My cat, Darla, is amazing- she never judges me. :) My boyfriend, Landy, is pretty darn great, too.
I am 28, and am in retail jewelry sales. I love to read, cook, and be outside.
I'm a HUGE science nerd- I love all things that are science related- bacteria, viruses, parasites, oh my! :D
I like funny movies, good books, playing video games, and being outdoors when it's nice out.
my goal/reward system:
-5lbs: get manicure/pedicure
-10lbs: 2 new pairs of dress pants
-15lbs: trip to Omaha zoo
-20lbs: trip to Chicago Museum of Science and Industry
-30lbs: trip to Mall of America
-40lbs: trip to Las Vegas
-50lbs: book a tropical Puerto Rican vacation with my BF!
