Take Back The Control In Your Life!

Set yourself up for success and take back the control in your life. We control food; it doesn't control us. I say this to myself constantly. Sometimes I slip up too. Old habits are hard to break. It is reassuring to read the blogs of successful Spark members and see that they had slip ups too and were still able to reach their goals. Mistakes and bumps in the road are all part of the journey. Set yourself up for success and take back the control in your life. We control food; it doesn't control us. I say this to myself constantly. Sometimes I slip up too. Old habits are hard to break. It is reassuring to read the blogs of successful Spark members and see that they had slip ups too and were still able to reach their goals. Mistakes and bumps in the road are all part of the journey. I read several blogs by INDYGIRL, SLENDERELLA61 and RUTHIEBEAR and found that they all experienced slip ups and plateaus. Since all three lost 80 pounds or more, this gives me hope for being successful on my own journey and you can be successful too!

Taking back the control in your life can be scary, especially if it has been a long time since you've had control over it. The question, "What if I Fail?" is a valid one but you can't let your fears rule you. Okay, you may fail sometimes but getting right back with your program is the only way to achieve any level of success. What works for me is making one or two small changes per week so that I don't get overwhelmed or burned out. I've belonged to Spark People for 6 years now. When I look back and see how far I've come, I have to say, "You've come a long way baby!"

My Program:
I will use food to nurish instead of using it to medicate myself.

I will drink 8 + cups water daily.

I will eat 5+ fruits/veggies daily.

I will choose foods by their nutritional content.

I will add anti-inflammatory foods to my eating plan .

I will do some sort of cardio for 10+ minutes 7 days a week .

I will keep a food diary daily either written or online.

I will stay away from processed foods.

I will get 7+ hours of sleep per day.

I will pace my activities daily.

I will pay attention to pain levels daily.

I will rest and use pain reduction techniques instead of medicating myself with food.

I will be kind to myself if I slip up and will get right back on my program.

Personal Information:
I'm a retired teacher who still loves to learn new things.

I am an optimist and refuse to dwell on the past. It is better to learn from it and move on.

I love animals. Their love is unconditional!

Doing creative activities always lifts my mood and I'm already a happy person to begin with!

Other Information:
I enjoy:
Reading, photography, crafts, helping other people, music, creative healthy cooking, exercising in water, using my brain, being creative, acting silly/laughing, and learning new things.

emoticon Cyndi for the caring words ......... I wrote down all you said in the Sparks blog ..... even got to bed earlier .............. went to a health store for the blueberries etc. (I have books on super foods, so I am going to go thru them too) ........ I make green drinks daily as they are loaded w/ antioxidants and when I used to get acupuncture, she said nutrition plays a huge role in healing and relief of pain. so .............. here we go! (I think I mentioned I joined the team abt chronic pain. YES--we will make the most of this and show em! ...... lol ... emoticon emoticon and we will!!! I also noticed your feed said something about your feet ......... do you have plantar fasciitis? .......... Best to you and thanks again for writing and adding me as a friend! ...... (P.s. I just wrote a blog last Thurs. about "Role Model-Two way street." ......... I hope you can swing by and read ............ I see you as being a positive influence for sure!!! ...... :)
