So I was major into SP last summer, then school started and while I didn't exactly go overboard, my weight didn't go up too much, I totally didn't pay attention to what I was eating as much. My life became all about school. My second semester at University was even worse. I was so stressed out because of school that I didn't realize what I was letting that stress do to my health.
Then I got hit by a mack truck. School had only been out for the summer just under 2 weeks when I noticed chest pains one morning. May 19th, 2009. I thought it was gas so I didn't pay it too much mind. I even burped once and it felt better so I thought that proved my theory. Off and on the pains came but nothing that I was alarmed at until just before 6 that evening. My husband took me to go pick up a package and on my way back to the carmy chest started hurtting so bad that I knew it was serious. I got back to the car in tears and my husband took me to the nearest emergency room.
It turns out that I had a very tiny, so they tell me, heart attack. Yes, HEART ATTACK. I couldn't believe it happened to me. All the times I went to the doctor before, even though it had been years since, My blood pressure was normal; my cholesterol was normal (that one still is oddly enough); my blood sugar was always normal... but now I was in the hospital with a blocked artery and a diagnosis of diabetes. In addition I got all this information from all these people, doctors, advisors, dietitians that made my head spin.
I got an angioplasty with a stent put in my artery. Thankfully they said there was hardly any damage and the rest of my heart looked just fine. But there was the matter of taking all the pills that are supposed to keep me well for the rest of my life and I have to change my eating habits so as not to aggravate the diabetes.
So now I'm back here at Spark to make the best of it. Hopefully to meet new people who are going through similar issues as I am to get and give support.

My Goals:
My main goal has become the goal to reverse my Diabetes which the doctor told me is possible. I refuse to let my life waste away with it. My secondary goal is to take off at least half of my starting weight.

All this while getting through university and staying sane at the same time.

My Program:
Now that i have been diagnosed with Diabetes, of course I am going to have to have a program that reflects that. it's an evolving process that will probably never end. Good thing though is that I finally got the hang of putting my meals into the nutrition tracker.
