I celebrated my 6 year anniversary with Spark 11/11/13. I put an extra 20 lbs on my frame in fall 2007 -when I was immobilized after breaking my leg, and I'm close to getting the rest of it off now. I'm done with the inital baby steps now, and its time to ramp it up this coming year. Watch me go!
I am trying to learn about the South Beach style of diet now. Trying now to encourage my daughter to get on Spark. (She has just hit 300 lbs. and thinks her only option is gastric bypass surgery, I told her take exercise and diet one step at a time, a 5 lb. weight loss at a time). Hope that my daughter starts working out with me.

Fitness Minutes: 2,829

My Goals:
My starting BMI was 41.9. As of 11/09/09: BMI is now 38.5. I want to get out of the obese range. My first goal is to lose 10 pounds, after that I would like to continue until I have lost at least 55 pounds. I would also like to get a handle on my emotional eating habits.
1/7/09: 247 lbs.
3/7/09: 243 lbs.
3/28/09: 242 lbs.
4/09/09: 241 lbs.
5/07/09: 240 lbs.
5/21/09: 239 lbs.
6/02/09: 238 lbs.
7/05/09: 237 lbs.
7/22/09: 236 lbs.
8/08/09: 235 lbs.
10/21/09: 234 lbs.
11/14/09: 233 lbs.
12/01/09: 232 lbs.
5/21/11: 225 lbs.
5/21/13: 218 lbs.


My Program:
For now I am recording what I eat in the Spark Nutrition counter. I attended diabetes education recently, and am trying to count carbs and watch my sugar. Adding vegetables/fruit to my diet is a goal. I drink 8 glasses H20 daily. I do leg strengthening exercises and walk daily.

Hi, I'm a lifetime Maryland resident. I love to travel, particularly to the Caribbean and the 50 US states. I have a daughter who has gained weight herself. I have lost 16 lbs. prior to starting with Sparkpeople. My sister has lost over 70 lbs with diet and exercise.


Other Information:
I'm a Lost Fan -fond of Sawyer, Locke and Sayeed. I collect mermaid objects and I love Betty Boop's positive energy.

    Hi! Wow! how time flies when we're having fun!

    I've been really busy and enjoying the festivities of the Easter season (which is my favorite holiday by the way) and now I'm about to get ready for some over night company that will be here in the early afternoon tomorrow then we will be getting ready to go to the coast for some fun and relaxation. When the sun comes out...I go out! It's great!

    How about you? Have you been busy or are you getting ready for BBQ season/summer which will be upon us very soon now!

    I read that persimmons have high levels of fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium and antioxidants which are all super weapons against atherosclerosis! Who knew?

    I just read a cure for bad Mondays!

    It said that when you're feeling groggy or foggy to sniff ground
    sage for an energy boost. Research showed that sage aroma
    suppresses the enzyme acetylcholinesterase that prevents the
    brain's ability to feel alert and happy! Not only that, but aromatherapy
    experts say sage can improve mental focus AND memory!

    My personal suggestion is...fresh ground or a good brand of coarse
    ground sage. The cheap stuff is very offensive to my nose.

    emoticon Hello again, I'm back to see how you are doing and to let you know I'm thinking of you.

    Ever wonder what people 'used' to do to get rid of dandruff? Me either, but I'm going to share it with you anyways! LOL
    I myself used this formula to lighten my hair, but now that I'm older, I find I already have light hair! LOL

    They used a natural rinse made from 3 tablespoons of vinegar or lemon juice and a cup of water or massaged salt all over the scalp before shampooing!
