Diagnosed with cancer July 2010. Went through treatment at Barnes in St. Louis Mo. In remission since Sept. 2010. Praising God for the healing and the wonderful blessings I have received during this time! It has been a journey and truly I know that you are only as strong as your faith and the family and friends that prays for you and holds you up! I cannot believe it - but....I find the whole cancer experience a blessing. It awakened my soul and brought me many wonderful friends! I now know that God has expectations for us, even when we are at our weakest and that every day is a gift. That even when we are broken, that we have gifts to share and that we must let our light shine before men, no matter what. I know that prayer is always answered, but, in God's time, and inside God's will. I know that I am only afraid when I allow Satan to get in my head and cause doubt, but that I can refresh my hope thru prayer. I praise God every day for all my wonderful friends and family! I am grateful for the full life I am allowed to have in good health, regardless of it's limitations!
Was a riding instructor, and hoping someday to get back to that when my lymph are healed.
Summer in full swing - boy talk about a rain filled one! Garden blooming and vegetables are popping up!
Spending time reading, exercise, diet and volunteer work as I am can. I workout in a therapy pool and with my own gym equipment at home. Looking forward to seeing my son in Aug!
I have spent a good part of summer enjoying family and friends! Got to see my Niece , Sara Rose up on a horse for the first time. - She is the fifth generation of my family to ride and be involved in light horses!
I would love to chat so don't be afraid to drop a line or leave a comment.
I enjoy cooking and am into natural and organic foods. Spark-people is helping me track my food/calories and when my lymph are being naughty ;( I have had to make a lot of adjustments to help my lymph. The radiation and chemo took a toll on that system and I exercise, eat a anti-inflammatory diet and wear a lymphedema garment to help control the swelling. Right now I am Processed Sugar free, Wheat Free, Soy Free, Limited Caffeine and on Dr Andrew's anti inflammatory diet. I avoid most grains , eat goat dairy and eat 99.9% whole foods. Hey we cannot control what others cook and I do eat out a bit;) I tried to lose on my own and got off 14 lbs. before I joined The Spark in Nov 2012. It is paying off and my body is doing much better now that I am getting rid of the inflammation!
I love experimenting with recipes and am planning on entering a couple of food contests this year if my health allows
