What I wrote when I joined back on January 1st 2010

I need to lose weight for my health, I can't move as well as I should and at 50 need to keep an eye on that. I've put on a stone in the last 3 months so have decided I need to get back to 15 stones instead of the 17 and a half that I am now!

UPDATE now under 16 stones for the first time in more than 5 years and feeling amazing. Working on couch to 5k and have signed up for my first 5k run on 20th June 2010

And still going downwards...

UPDATE 2 Now under 14stones (194lb as of today) I managed to keep going and lose a little more weight even though I fell and fractured my kneecap whilst out running on May 3rd. This means that I've missed both of my 5ks but I will do one later in the year if it kills me.

I'm now the same weight I was in my 20s and possibly may get to the 12st something mark before Christmas. I was last 12st after I had bowel cancer 10 years ago and it's the only time I've ever been under 13st in my adult life. This time I'm going to do it the nicer way. *grin*

UPDATE Jan 2011. Still recovering from my knee injury and still not able to run very much. Have had a very difficult time with family crises with far reaching effects. Have hit the food as a comfort button quite badly in the run up to Xmas. I have promised myself that I am going to get back to 200 and then down to 182 by my birthday in June. Working on the keeping things under control rather than making huge changes.

My Goals:
Goal One

To be 15 st again (210 lbs) ACHIEVED 29 March 2010

OK so I'm having to move the goalposts a little...

Goal Two
Make that 14 st (196lb) - not been there for over 10 years so that is a big goal for me - I can and will do it though.
ACHIEVED and then lost again bounced back up to 15st but on the way back down - going to be back there by my birthday in June.

New Goal 13st (182lb)

I'm even starting to think in terms of around 12 stones (168lb) Not been there since I had cancer 10 years ago.


My Program:
Trying to keep below 1600 cals a day.

Gonna do the race for life again this year, in memory of my good friend Maralyn who died last Easter. This time I want to jog the 5k rather than walk it. Might manage to do this at the Hyde park run in August.

Hobbies are photography and salsa. Love a game of online scrabble.

Working as a teacher in an inner city area of London and loving it most of the time.
