What challenges me will not frighten me!

I've been on SP for 18 months now and while I have not reached my weight loss goals, I have gained a new perspective on this journey from all of the information I have acquired and reading about the struggles of other sparkers.

I recently turned 60 and to say it didn't impact me to some extent would be a lie. Of course, it impacted me. I turned around and my youngest child is now 21 (my oldest 31) and I was entering a new decade. My back started hurting and sciatica I hadn't ...

I recently turned 60 and to say it didn't impact me to some extent would be a lie. Of course, it impacted me. I turned around and my youngest child is now 21 (my oldest 31) and I was entering a new decade. My back started hurting and sciatica I hadn't experienced since pregnancy has flared up. But the thing is I know it isn't aging but rather the fact that after exercising regularly for a few years, I sat down. Yes, that's right, I sat down. I stopped going to Zumba and walking and all other forms of aerobic exercise.

I refuse to let these small inconveniences of minor pain rule my life. I don't have to take it as a natural process. I can live an active, healthy lifestyle while managing a few aches and pains. I am not giving up and I am not giving in.

2015 will be a year of new challenges and I plan on meeting them head on. I will move past my fear rather than giving in to it.

"If it doesn't challenge you, it cannot change you."

Thank you so much for what you said on my status about sabotage! I will try to focus on my habits and feeling good and not the scale/weight loss aspect. It will be hard, but if I shift my focus to my sodium challenge and breaking my diet soda habit, maybe I won't be so worried about the overall weight loss. emoticon

Stop wasting so much energy hating your body; it makes you weaker.
Everything good in your life begins from the moment you begin accepting, understanding, respecting, and loving your true self.

Thanks so much for commenting on my "Back On Track" blog. Have a great day!

PS: Good luck on your journey! I last weighed myself over a month ago, and I probably won't weigh myself again for a very VERY long time. I've only weighed myself 4 times since 2012. I prefer to gauge my success by NSV's such as how my clothes feel and how much stamina I have during workouts. When I get on the scale, I tend to obsess over the numbers and I'd rather not do that.

"You are capable and worthy of being and doing anything.
You just need the discipline and determination to see it through.
It won't come instantly, and you may backslide from time to time, but don't let that deter you.
Never give up. Life is an ever-changing process, and nothing is final.
Therefore, each moment and every new day is a chance to begin anew."
