As we begin the new 5% Challenge, I am strong and hopeful, but most of all, I am committed. I can and will do this.
Relying on feelings does not always work. Motivation can ebb and flow. That's where commitment kicks in and carries me to the next mountaintop. Each success fuels motivation. Encouraging others also stokes my motivation. Sometimes the encouragement I give others is exactly what I need to hear today.

There are people who set a course and never waver. Unfortunately I am a yo-yo. My journey has included winning streaks and gaining streaks, high motivation periods and wandering in la-la land.
At this point I not only have to lose the extra pounds I was carrying when I joined Spark, but also the weight I've gained since then. I have a head full of knowledge and years of experiencing what works and what doesn't.
It is not an all or nothing journey. It's a journey of many steps.

Stop worrying about what you have to lose and start focusing on what you have to gain. - KURTZIE1998

Lose, maintain. Don't regain. -IndyGirl

Life is too short to have a bad day (a choice). - SPICY23

When I am tired, I am hungry for sleep.
When I am thirsty, I am hungry for liquids.
When I am feeling down, I'm hungry for support.
When I am feeling lonely, I'm hungry for people..

My Goals:
Be healthy

Lose 10 pounds a month. Concentrate on maintaining each loss.

My Program:
Eat less, move more. I prefer low carb but I will flex.
Exploring Eat to Live: limit animal products, eat high density foods that prevent so many diseases. Greens, fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

I will celebrate each victory, each fraction of a pound lost. I do not look at how far I have to go. I like to try new recipes and new foods. I look for the positives. I am enjoying the journey.

Personal Information:
Hashimoto's thyroiditis, hypertension, osteoarthritis. Cancer survivor.
Chronic pain. Motion is painful. Mobility is fragile.
Had 5 hip surgeries (including 2 total hip replacements). Then broke hip in 2014. Now using a rollator part of the time. At times it is challenging going from sitting to standing. I have to use taller chairs.
Torn rotator cuff the end of 2015, non-operable. Orthopedic surgeon now tells me I need a total shoulder replacement on the other arm.

I am celebrating each day, counting my blessings. There are benefits in a good belly laugh.

Other Information:
See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. Isaiah 12:2
