Losing to have fun with my dog

My name is Nancy. I am in my mid-50's and have always had a problem with my weight. After many years of yo-yo dieting, I quit even trying to do any thing and have now gained weight beyond my wildest imagination. About 10 years ago, I started to run agility with my dog. I know that my weight has held us back from becoming the exceptional team that I know we could be. Now, I have another dog that I am starting and my weight keeps me from having the energy to really work with her. I am ...

I am tired of being the fatty in the group and realize that the extra weight is making me old before my time.

Hey there,
We do a little of everything but UKC. With two of humans and 3 dogs, we do all of the trials in our area for USDAA, DOCNA,and NADAC. I have only done one AKC trail so far. I was so nervous, you would have thought it was my first trial! We will be doing more AKC once Maggie is ready. Then I will be more willing to drive for a couple of hours and spend the night if we are running 2 dogs. Our trainer is also working on Qualifying for the 2012 AKC Nationals, so I teach her Saturday classes. NADAC is probably the main one right now because there are more that go on close to us. ACAT has a big one right here in town the 3rd weekend in June. That one is nice because it is about 10 minutes from the house. I keep telling my hubby to win the lottery and build me my own barn. It would be great to be able to play with my babies most of the day!

Hey there,
Don't know why I didn't add you earlier (I'm a space sometimes)! We have tried everything from viewtainers to treat plates with Winnie and nothing really works to speed him up besides running with him. That's okay we go out to have fun! He was a Humane Society dog, and is very sensitive. Even though we have had him for almost 3 years, he will still run to his kennel when I raise my voice at my son. He is not your typical Border Collie, but I wouldn't trade him for the world!
When is your next competition? We'll be cheering for ya!

Hi there!

I love your pictures of your babies, and congrats on your accomplishments! We hope to get there some day! I totally understand how you feel as far as slowing your dogs down, Winston and I trialed for almost a year before we got our first Q, and that took me losing 30lbs first (20 of which I have put back on). He is a velcro dog, so I have to run with him, he will go out from me, but slows waaaay down! We are gearing up for our next NADAC trial, Feb 4-6 where I will be running both Winston and Fiona. Keep me posted on your adventures! Have a great day!
