Keep Your Focus

My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. I did that several times throughout the years and then I got bored. I discovered weight lifting and enjoyed the benefits that the weights brought me. Then I discovered running. Now, I am still not sure that I enjoy running, but I have completed 4 marathons over the years. This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I ...
This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I did not lose a single pound of weight in all of that training. To look at me, most people would say I am in great shape - and physically speaking, I guess I am, but something is missing for me. I want to LOOK like an athlete. See, in my mind - throughout the years- I believed what people told me - that since I was exercising so much, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. Well, since turning 40, I realize now that it is not true. Now I am focused on eating right, exercising to gain muscle, to build that athletic figure that I know I can be!!

Thanks so much for the comment on my blog. You are right- I'm not supposed to view it like a competition with myself. I'm supposed to view the levels as progress. I get that, and I knew my thinking was off kilter. I guess I just needed to lick my wounds for a while. emoticon

Thanks for the comments! Alas, it doesn't look like I'm going to reach my Spring Equinox goal, since that's going to be next Friday. But not giving up and am going to ramp up my efforts NOW!

Good morning!
I do so admire you taking the time to train your pup. We always train our Border Collies, it's work that pays off. It'll help make her a happier dog, and everyone who comes in contact with her will be happier, too.
I resent the people who don't instill basic manners in their dogs, and then release them into the public. Sure, it's hard work to train a dog, but it's worth it.
Sorry for the rant.

I hope that you had another in a long line of good sleeps last night. What a difference it makes in the quality of life when we sleep well!
