Changing a Lifetime of Bad Habits

We can do it!

Hi, my name is Anna and I have spent a lifetime battling weight gain, fat thighs and a poor body image. I remember dieting since I was 11 or so, and I was never happy with my body.

Between 15 and 25 years of age, my weight fluctuated from 98 lbs to 125lbs, with the average staying at 118lbs. 118lbs is a healthy middle for my 5'2" frame, yet I was never satisfied with how I looked.

Hi, my name is Anna and I have spent a lifetime battling weight gain, fat thighs and a poor body image. I remember dieting since I was 11 or so, and I was never happy with my body.

Between 15 and 25 years of age, my weight fluctuated from 98 lbs to 125lbs, with the average staying at 118lbs. 118lbs is a healthy middle for my 5'2" frame, yet I was never satisfied with how I looked.

I joined the Navy in 1999 and saw some of the fittest years of my life then. Flat abs and amazing upper body strength -- I left guys with their jaws open at the gym as they watched how much iron I could lift.

After marrying, having knee surgery and a baby, my fitness took a turn for the absolute worse. I tipped the scale at 150lbs, and have gotten down as far as 133lbs, but gained the weight right back. These days, I average 144lbs or so, and as a result struggle regularly with the physical activities required of me by the military.

2008 started successfully. I stuck to a healthy program most of the year with the help of SparkPeople, even got my family to join in. Then I became pregnant -- and lost the baby. Depression and stress led me to regain everything back, so I am once again in square one.

My goal is simple: to develop a healthy attitute towards food, exercise and my body. Years of struggle have shown me that this is the only path to everlasting success.

This is my journey.

Dec 31, 08 - 146 lbs. The holidays take their toll.

Jan 22, 09 - 142 lbs. It's working! But it is slow...

Feb 22, 09 - 144.8 lbs. It's NOT working. I am incredibly frustrated.
