When I'm not fishing, I'm golfing with my best friend - my husband. I have some health challenges that losing weight would improve, plus I want to get in better shape to enjoy my sports more and, hopefully, improve at them. My other passion is rescuing animals.

I'm 39 lbs away from my current weight loss goal - to weigh 175 lbs. I'm down 100 lbs as of 9/9/2016. Definitely need to post some new photos on my SparkPage that show my trimmer self. :)

My Goals:
My overall weight goal is to reach a healthy 175 lbs. I reached 214 on 9/9/2016 (100lbs lost). On my last 39 lbs. My secondary goal is to improve my fitness - strength, flexibility, stamina.


My Program:
Eating only when I am hungry and then eating what I am hungry for and stopping as soon as I am full have been the mainstays of my program and works best for me. I incorporate healthy choices as much as possible. I am diabetic, so I generally follow the diabetic food pyramid. Recently, I've gone very low carb as blood sugar has been high and received an added benefit of some more weight loss.



Personal Information:
I am originally from Texas, but have been in Arkansas since 1987. My husband is my best friend. We golf and fish together on weekends. Otherwise we huddle at home with a large brood of rescued felines. I rescue stray cats in the neighborhood and try to improve their lives.


Other Information:
I've started reading "Diabesity - The Obesity-Diabetes Epidemic that Threatens America - and What We Must Do to Stop It" by past president of the American Diabetes Association, Francine R. Kaufman, M.D. Powerful stuff. Wish it had been around before I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes.

    Never apologize for 'hijacking'! lol, I come here and stay here to hear stories from others. And, I totally agree with your take on how others tend to react to weight-loss stories. It's so great kind of having this little cocoon of 'safe space' to sound off on struggles and victories that others might not react positively to out in the wider world.

    Water is mostly all I drink besides my morning coffee. When I first started I would drink water with a little crystal light. I wanted to stop using artificial sweeteners. I tried a couple of slices of cucumber. It is not acidic like lemon water so it will not hurt the enamel of your teeth. It gives the water a light essence of cucumber. I put a couple of slices in my big water bottle and use the same couple of slice for the entire day.

    When you refill your water bottle add a little cucumber to water. It tastes amazing.
