Don't take Success for Granted

I started my Spark journey September 23, 2008 and from there to July 2010, I lost a total of 98 pounds. Just shy of losing 100 lbs....I stopped the plan. I gained all the weight back plus an additional 31.8 pounds. I look back and think, "why?" A couple things come to mind. I started a new job and moved in July of 2010. I am disappointed that I STILL can't handle stress better and I wonder if I ever will?

Then my husband and I had our baby Sophia on April 7, 2012, the happiest day of my life. I love her so much and she is the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm sad that I am tired so many evenings and that getting on the ground to play with her is a chore. My joints hurt, it's hard to literally get off the couch, and I have no stamina anymore. I used to run two miles at the gym like it was nothing!

Today, March 17, 2013 (St. Patricks Day), I'm going to stop beating myself up for stopping the plan. I'm going to stop beating myself up because I "failed." I look at my accomplished pictures here on SparkPeople, how I used to look when I was thin, and wish I could be there again. I am re-dedicating myself to the plan and living a healthy lifestyle. I'm even considering talking to a therapist about my stress/emotional eating. I am not only going to live a physically healthy lifestyle, but a mentally healthy one as well.

Please support me and help me get back to where I was! I TOOK FOR GRANTED how happy and healthy I used to be and didn't realize how hard I had been working. This is not easy, we need to give ourselves credit for every LITTLE thing we accomplish! We could so easily slip back.

Don't take your accomplishments for granted!

I have been overweight my entire life, I can remember weighing 135 pounds in 4th grade! I was the size of a normal woman at age 9! Being overweight was extremely stressful for me as a child and adult. While I had a great family and supportive friends, was involved in choir and other school activities, and even went on to college to get my Masters degree, I always felt I hadn't succeeded because of my weight. How could I do so much and still fail at this one thing for over ten years of dieting?

Spark has changed that! I feel like Spark has helped me be in control of what I eat, weight loss, fitness, and incorporate all this into a healthy lifestyle without having to be obsessed with weight loss or unable to treat myself! What a stress relief, in a way!

Milestones:
1st 10% Weight Loss: 267 - met 12/12/08

2nd 10% Weight Loss: 241 - met 3/27/09

3rd 10% Weight Loss: 217 met 9/18/09

4th 10% Weight Loss: 196

Have gone from a size 24 (almost 26) to an 18.

haven't learned what we need to be healthy for a lifetime. Have lost 25.5 total inches (neck, waist, hips)

Total percentage of weight loss: 30%

Started with a BMI of 46.4 and now have BMI of 32.1

Started with Blood Pressure of 141/90 and how have Blood Pressure of 116/80

Health Goals:

My Program:
I am logging my nutrition, working out four to five days a week, and trying to stick to a low calorie lifestyle.

Nutrition:
I specifically follow the calorie guidelines given by SparkPeople based on my weight, age, and sex. Currently, I eat between 1600 and 1800 calories a day, usually toward the higher end.

Fitness:
I do 30 minutes a day on the elliptical machine. Once I reach my 1st 10% goal, I will start adding strength back to my workout.

Personal Information:
I live in Bakersfield, Ca. I am a Speech/Language Pathologist and work in the educational setting. I have an identical twin sister name Aimee who is also on SparkPeople and struggles with weight as well. I have a 11 month old baby girl name Sophia Rose!
