Hi all!!! My name is Angel. I am 32 years old and I am a mother to 3 beautiful children. I gave birth to my 3rd child on Sept. 20, 2011. I gained 46 pounds during my pregnancy, and only lost 20lbs after giving birth. Almost 2 years later, I am now a stay at home mom and I'm trying to make more time for myself to focus on my health. I am happily married to the love of my life. My husband and I have been married 9 years and we are high school sweethearts; together 15 years. While my husband says he loves me exactly the way I am...I don't love me the way I am.
My story is quite similar to other Sparkers. I have had issues with my weight since I was a child. I am 1 of 8 children and its sad to say that out of 8, I was the ONLY overweight child that my parents had. I remember never feeling like I fit in because I was the chubby kid in class. As I grew older I kind of grew in to my curves which brought lots of attention from the boys...sometimes too much attention. During my high school career my entire family was insistant that I was NOT fat. Yes, I could fit in a small shirt from the Juniors section but I wore a size 14 in jeans while all the girls in school wore a size 2...yeah sure, I wasn't fat! Who was my family trying to kid. Needless to say I have NEVER felt comfortable in my own skin.
It is for that reason that I joined Spark. I joined in April '08 and managed to lose 13 pounds in the first month and then the stresses of life hit me. I gained back all 13 pounds and failed to keep Sparking. Well now here it is almost the end of 2012 and I've decided that I need to STOP making excuses! Life is going to happen no matter what; somethings good, some bad and I have to learn to work through them without turning to food for comfort. I will NOT let the stressful moments in life keep me from achieving what is truly important to me.
I WILL be healthy not just for myself but for the sake of my children. I want to be able to run around with them without running out of breath. I want to feel comfortable in my own skin. I REFUSE to spend the rest of my life in this OBESE body!!!
