Tanja - Thanks for the recommendation for "The Lightning Thief" series...I will definitely check it out. It would probably help to read the books first - I'm always excited to find out about a good series. I don't think my kids have read them (too busy with school) but I could be wrong! We used to read together all of the time - I miss that! Think I could talk them into a pajama party so I could read to them until I got hoarse again??! Sigh... :)

Thank you for the heads up about boot camp - seriously, I appreciate it! I will pass along your gratitude along with ours when I head out there in a couple of weeks. He's been SO excited to go - he's had a countdown on his Facebook page for like a year! I think I will just put some cash in a card for him - he can always put it in the bank, but a calling card is a good idea too. Good to know!

We had a lot of fun at the animal shelter - Karl and I will have no problem going up there weekly. :) The directors are really nice - we can let cats out a few at a time...the directors' dog (COOP) is there loping around having fun with the cats....the only down side for me was that the (other) dogs are crated. They only have room for 4, and they DO get to go to an outdoor pen, but Karl and I are planning on walking each of them next week. On the other days, other volunteers walk them, so it's not terrible. They rescued a beautiful hound dog from being sold to an animal testing place - but he's SO scared of everyone, it breaks your heart. I'm going to work my love on him and see if he'll come around!

Your girls sound like they had an awesome snowday! Barbies! I remember those days. I agree that some snowy days are best spent inside. We still don't have much snow - the temps have been in the 20s, so not bad at all!

I hope you had a GREAT workout at the gym! Did it feel good, or did your body needs to time to adjust?! emoticon

Have a great weekend, in case I don't talk to you before!!

You have more snow than we do! We only have about an inch...and I'll take it, I'll take it! We actually got to see the sun for a while today and that made my heart glad too. Chewy and I had a great walk (no falling on the ice - yippee!) and really, it's been a lovely day.

Snow days are always so delicious...like a gift when it's not even your birthday! Did you guys end up watching movies, or building a snowman or both?

I have to leave in a little bit to go up to the local no-kill shelter. Karl and I are feeding and cleaning on Wednesdays. Such a togerthness activity, don't you think?? haha I got my exercise done super early today (biking) so the rest of my day is clear!

Have you seen the ad for the new movie "The Lightning Thief"? I know it's part of a series of books, but didn't know if your girls had read them (or are even interested in that kind of book). I'd not heard of it before, so was just curious.

Ok...I need to go change my clothes into something scruffier! Have a wonderful afternoon!

    Bye!

P.S. My 2nd cousin will be heading to boot camp next month and I'm going to go to an open house/going away party for him...are there any GREAT gift ideas that you can think of that would be good for boot camp? I don't even know what he's allowed to have, so I thought I would pick your brain! Thanks!

Better get out that snow shovel, Tanja! :) I just read the weather report...I don't know if your area will get the 6-10 inches they are predicting, but I thought I would send warm wishes anyway!

    Hi Tanja!
Way to go getting your workouts up to 5 days a week! I think you would love Turbo Jam (available thru Amazon.com for a cheaper price than Beachbody.com) especially the 20 minute workout! It is one of my go-to workouts when I'm not feeling in the mood for anything...or just want to mix it up a bit. I think doing different things (like dvds/jogging/biking) all hit different muscles..or is that just me??! haha

Man, I did the 20 minute resistance band workout on SP and I could feel it THAT day! I'm going to do it again tomorrow...that's the plan anyway!

I'm so happy to hear that your girls are doing splendidly! I had no doubts those little darlings would morph nicely into the Virginia scene! I totally forgot you were in Virginia...I'm glad you said that again! We have had a lot of rain and gloom the last few days...but it will return to COLD COLD by the end of this week. At least we can see the grass though! I will trade the warmer temperatures for a little sunshine! This dark gloom usually doesn't hit until February so it can disappear anytime!

How is your husband doing? Does he like his new assignment? (Or is it an old assignment, just in a new place?) Did you tell me that you and he are doing a run together? He better watch out with all that mileage you're getting in!!

I'll be busy working on taxes for the next little bit...the only pressure for me this year is for (our youngest) Heather because I still have to file the FAFSA for her for financial aid for grad school.

I'm hoping to work some of these pounds off that I've put on over the holidays...and so far, so good (at least for the last week anyway!).

Always a joy to hear from you! Keep me posted on all of your running success! Because you're .... emoticon !!

    Hugs!

Hi Tanja! Sorry for MY delay, but I swear I had written you back and ...NOPE.

I love your running schedule! 3 days a week is do-able and even better - you have upped your mileage in the same amount of time. Shows you are getting stronger! (cue Christina Aguilera song!!)

My husband wants to get a treadmill - neither of us are gym people...we prefer to sweat in privacy! :) For a big, out-going guy, my husband is surprisingly shy about some things. In fact, this message will self-destruct in 10 seconds...10, 9, hahaha..ok, I'm dating myself with Mission Impossible flashbacks!

I do still bike! I still love it. I bike 3-5 times a week -inside on my trainer. I've got my husband re-started :) and we ride together twice a week. I also enjoy Turbo Jam and my Celebrity Fit Club workout with HARVEY...I always have to capitalize his name hahaha.

Ok. It's Friday - I don't have much on my agenda for today, and I'm going to ENJOY it! :) How was your week? The girls loving school? Have they made some special friends already? I hope so - they are such pretty, friendly looking girls. And if they take after their Momma at all - they have a good sense of humor! :)

Chewy and I are off for a walk. It is going to be another warm-ish day...we hit 41 yesterday! So I want to take advantage of this delightful heat wave while I can!

    Enjoy your weekend! Happy running!
