    WALK IS CANCELLED
    ----------------------------
After a two-hour walk yesterday, an old heel injury has flared up really nasty... so I won't be able to make it! Darn! Please go ahead and explore the park on your own anyway... you don't need me to get in your exercise! I'll post again once I get this heel thing under control... looks the the elliptical for me!!!

Hugh MacRae Park is one of the oldest and best known parks in New Hanover County. The park was given to the County in the 1920's. Located near the intersection of South College Road and Oleander Drive, the 98-Acre park is well know for festivals and events such as the Piney Woods Festival, the Sounds of Summer Concert Series, the Annual Chili Cook-Off, and the Wing Fling. Facilities include lighted tennis courts, playgrounds, ball fields with seasonal concessions, an equestrian ring and a Pet Exercise Area. The Winter Park Optimist Club operates the County's oldest youth baseball and softball program at the park. There are six picnic shelters, picnic tables, grills and rest rooms located in the park as well. The garden and gazebo near the pond area are very popular places for weddings, especially in the Spring when the azaleas and dogwoods are in full bloom.

Thanks for stopping by my page. I did do the Hope for Warriors ride on Saturday ~ it was amazing. I was so inspired by those wounded soldiers. For heaven's sake, if they can do it, so can we!! I only rode the 22 mile ride. Some of those guys did the 43 miler - with hand cycles. It was awe-inspiring.
