Me and my grandma, who I lost in 2011 at age nearly-92. She lived on her own until the end!

January 9, 2013. 37.6 more pounds to lose to get to my 54 pound loss goal.

Here we go again. Day 1 of 80 - 80 days until the DirtyGirl 5K. ~40 lbs to lose. 3/13/13

Andrea's Journey

I told a personal trainer "I'm an athlete wrapped in fat." That was four years ago and I've been yo-yo-ing ever since. My total weight loss goal is 54 pounds.

In 2013, I have 41 pounds to lose. During this year I will participate in three 5K's, my first "dirty" fun and first 5K of the year being the DirtyGirl 5K on June 1!

I wonder why I do so well on my journey to health then fall into an abyss. I recognize this is going to be a lifelong process for me and it doesn't ...

I wonder why I do so well on my journey to health then fall into an abyss. I recognize this is going to be a lifelong process for me and it doesn't exactly excite me, this revelation.

I envision having a collage of pictures to show you of my weight loss in my face only from heaviest to fittest, but I'm not there yet....hoping by January 2014...?????

I've recognized that my moods are greatly affected by the foods I eat. I just find it hard that once I'm in the depths of flour and sugar pit to get out of it.

I can become stronger every day, in spirit, in mind, and in body. This weight-loss/getting healthy journey is a transformation of every part of me. It's a constant struggle to forgive myself for letting myself go, yet ensuring I don't 'feed' my emotions which simply makes me unhealthy. It's a conscientious effort to be kinder to myself, more forgiving every step of the way, and loving who I am no matter what my size.

I'm aiming for the 54 pound loss to be done by January 2014 (my birthday) so I can start into the maintenance phase. Quite frankly, the maintenance phase seems like a fantasy, but I'd like it to become a reality.

I WANT THAT ATHLETE BACK!!!!

Andrea, WooHoo! You are drinking a green smoothie! That's your step - you needed to do that for you - you'll be amazed how easy it is to throw this drink together every morning and how great you'll feel. I'd like to give you one more (another) tip - Get some B12 vitamins. Right now I'm finishing off my hubby's B complex and then I'll get B12. I have definitely noticed a change in my energy with the addition of these vitamins. Now, remember my favorite smoothie recipe: mango ( I just bought these at Kroger for $1 each - peeled them, sliced them, bagged them and froze them for my smoothies), spinach (1-2 handfuls, depending what I'm feeling up to that day), banana, pineapple ( I buy the big ones and do the same thing with them I do with the mangoes) and water. Yesterday I added a pinch of ginger paste and wheat grass (which I've read grows quickly, so I have it near my window sill, I cut a few pieces off and throw in blender every morning - this is supposed to be super energy food - I bought the plant at a grocery store in the vegetable bin area last week) Now, when you're watching tv - now and then remind yourself to stand up while watching - do some weight lifting while standing there, walk around - remind yourself to just move around.

So So Proud of You and Happy you are getting your energy back!!!
