Wearing size 12 pants and an XL shirt. Down 32 pounds to 176 on 2/24/08.

My hunka hunka burnin' love. His before picture too. Our #1 daughter is hugging him.

Another before picture. We went to Vegas in July 07 and were going to go hiking in Red Rock canyon, but it was too hot. So we just posed for pics.

I have 19 pics in my gallery

Want to be healthy

My goal is to reach a reasonable weight, develop a more natural exercise routine into my lifestyle, and just feel healthy and strong. I don't need to be model thin, or hulk woman, but I want to feel more healthy.

After having 4 kids in 5 years (including twins) my body has been through the ringer, so now its time to take care of me!

After having 4 kids in 5 years (including twins) my body has been through the ringer, so now its time to take care of me!

I had already lost 22 pounds when I joined Spark in 2008, and have been working out regularly for over 4 months, but my will power is waning. I need some more encouragement.

UPDATE: I have been working out now for over 8 months. I love the way I feel. My husband even encourages it and helps me carve the time out to get to the gym. I feel really supported by him. My eating is not completely under control now though. Its not completely bad. I am maintaining my weight loss and even lose a little here and there, but can not seem to lose weight right now. I am somewhat ok with that. I would like to look great as bathing suit season is nearly upon us, but I also feel I am learning some valuable lesson on how to eat at a maintenance level. And also what I can eat and not eat to gain and lose weight. I also can feel the difference in how my trips to the gym affect my body too.

I tried giving up the gym for yard work and walking outside now that the weather is nicer, and found it didn't have quite the same effect on my body. So I still need to go to the gym a certain minimal amount and count the yard work and walking as bonus workouts.

Update 1/2013: I gained back all the weight I lost slowly over 4 years. On the positive, I continued to work out regularly throughout the entire time. Now I am well over 40, and my body does not respond the way it used to. I get achy and sore, and the weight just wants to stay on my body. I feel a little sad knowing the amounts of food I am able to eat and not gain weight. Because I really love food. Apparently working out does not allow me to eat that much more. I don't know how far I will go and if I'll make it this time. Its kind of depressing, but I'll take it day by day.

My Goals:
See my personal statement above.

My first short term goal right now though, is to get to 170. Then my BMI will officially be out of the "obese" range. I will just be "overweight."

My other short term goal is to get out of plus sizes.

My Program:
I don't count calories too much, but I have an idea of how many calories are in what I eat. I have been on enough "diets" and WW to know what I can and can not eat.

I am trying to eat healthy. I have increased my fruits and veggies, and decreased my carb and junk food intake and mindless eating (i.e. finishing off what my kids didn't eat). Breakfast is now fruit and/or protein instead of sugary cereal or toast/bagel.

Lunch is salad and/or broth based soup (lots o veggies), turkey, chicken, pretzels, apple, etc.

Snacks are apples, carrot sticks, pea pods or 100 calorie packs if I need carbs or something sweet.

Dinner is often a veggie stir fry made with tofu and 1/2 cup rice. Or eggs or an omelete with veggies and feta cheese. Maybe one piece of toast.

Exercise
I work out 2-5 times a week. At the gym I work out 2-3 days a week for 60-90 minutes, including 40 minutes of cardio on the eliptical & treadmill. Then 20-min. weight training.

Personal Information:
Inspired to stay healthy by my 4 skinny healthy active kids aged 16, 14, 10 and 10

My DH is also changing his life.

Other Information:
Changing my life while raising 4 beautiful children, working 25-30 hours a week, and sharing this goal with my hunky husband. I am also inspired by pastaqueen.com's blog, so I thought I would do one too.
