10/13/08: hey y'all, i ran a half marathon! i'm pretty psyched about this. just sayin'!!!
10/4/08 i'm rededicating myself to this process. i'm committed to tracking my calories and exercise and getting my 8 glasses of water until i reach my goal weight! i've been going back and forth, up and down on the scale for too long. it's time to batten down the hatches and drop those last few pounds like the bad habit they are. hang on to your hats, kids, 'cause here we go! i'm running my first half marathon in a week, my second in november, and my first marathon in march!!! as of today, i'm starting a "no eating out" streak (thanks to deaners82 for the idea) that will last for a month. i am COMMITTED!!!!!
8/16/08 i'm about 15 pounds from my goal weight, and i'm ready to finish strong. i have great new habits and my body feels fit and capable. i'm learning how to indulge responsibly and stay focused on longterm goals. i love my life and am looking forward to ticking this weight loss thing off my to do list!
4/28/08 i've been hanging out at the halfway point for a few weeks now. it got a little tough to keep up the pace for a bit, so i backed off and maintained for a little while. now i'm back at it, moving forward and feeling great! i ran my second 5k and first 10k this month and my times were awesome. now i'm working on a mini streak to get me to 205. at 200 i'll be 2/3 of the way to the finish line and i'll treat myself to a spa day. i've also committed to running a half marathon this fall. i can totally do this!
3/06/08 i'm nearly halfway to my preliminary goal weight, and i'm feeling great. i'm running 12-16 miles a week, jumping rope 50 minutes per week, eating tasty and healthy whole foods, and fitting into size 16 clothes. i feel confident and energetic. i am committed to never gaining the weight back. life like this is too good :)
1/21/08 well, here i am in phase 2, doing my best to make this work. i'm switching to straight night shift at work, and i've got a whole new food strategy to help combat the midnight munchies. i've got an exercise plan and a few workout buddies. here we go!

my goals are to be active, healthy and fit. i want my body to be able to move freely again and to feel like i have my strength back. i have an initial weight goal of 180 (84 lbs less than my starting weight) and from there i'll reevaluate.
short term goal: lose my first 10%
long term goal: achieve and maintain a healthy bmi
another goal i have is to grow spiritually and improve my mental and emotional health.
right now, i'm just tracking all my food and getting in 1-2 cardio sessions per week. i'll be upping the ante as soon as i feel ready! i've also cut added sugar out of my diet.
i'm 31 years old and living in maryland. i work as a nurse and i love reading, knitting and traveling. i'm about 6 feet tall, so my weight loss goals are a little different than your average kid's.
