The Journey is Worth the Trip

Been on SP for awhile now. Lost and gained and lost and gained a few pounds here and there, but the progress is overall downward. 2013 is all about getting to goal (136#) and having significant relief for the arthritis in my knees and feet. Continue to make the most of my retirement. It has been a fabulous two years and have been loving every moment of the time for me!

Left the Dukan Diet behind and moved more towards plant based organic eating to get to goal weight by summer.

Thanks for stopping by! I do fast sometimes, and IF most daily. I have read some of Lean Gains, and I think it is a great program! I hang out sometimes on Mark's Daily Apple, and that is where I first learned of it. Thanks again for stopping by!

In response to your question about saving, I calculated that I would have spent about $1 per person (my husband and me) for three meals totaling 1500-2000 calories. Instead on the 2 fast days, we are eating only 500-600 calories, thus saving $2 per person per fast day -- savings we can put toward community and church outreach projects. This makes the fast days even easier since they have a dual purpose.

Hi there. I saw your post on the fast message board. I have been doing the Cura Romana which is 500 calories a day. One trick I have picked up from that is to add 1 tspoon of psyllium husks to a smoothie. It makes it thick and creamy, and I find the bulk makes the smoothie satisfying for a long time. You can add it to soups, too, for example a can of tomatoes and some stock...

It has been a long struggle for me. I am still struggling along trying to lose the weight. I have given up pop, which was hard to do since I drank it like water every day. I cut my portions down, however, some days I eat more than I should. I eat more fruits and vegetables. I watch my calories closely by tracking them every day. I have my days when I do eat a cookie , brownie, ice cream, etc. I just watch how much I eat and figure it in my calories. I did have a bad spell where I gained some weight back and I'm trying to lose it again. I've been yo-yoing with the same few pounds for the last couple of months. My exercising isn't what it was either since my back has been bothering me. I am very limited to what I can do right now. Basically, I do back exercises and that's about it. I'm hoping I can kick it up a notch though so that I can get back on track with my weight loss.
