I'm tired of having a 'when I'm less fat' list and am ready to do something about it. Participating in a triathlon was on that list until a few years ago when I decided to suck it up and just go for it...and have been hooked ever since. I'm tired of having a 'when I'm less fat' list and am ready to do something about it. Participating in a triathlon was on that list until a few years ago when I decided to suck it up and just go for it...and have been hooked ever since. I'm generally one of the last finishers, but I finish and that is my goal, so I'm pleased!! One of my main concerns about doing triathlons was that people would question what someone of my size was doing there, but instead the triathlon community has been beyond supportive and encouraging! Another instance of my self-doubt running rampant over my life, I think it's time self-doubt and I broke up.

I had Lap-Band surgery in 2004, which helped to a point. I lost close to 100 pounds, but then I slowly stopped paying attention and magically half of that weight reappeared. One of the reasons I chose Lap-Band over bypass was b/c I wanted the flexibility and control, however that also means I really need to put some effort into it, which is why I'm thrilled to have found sparkpeople.com (thank you, Krista!), I think it will be a great tool in assisting my new mission.

My goal is to be 'just' overweight by my 35th birthday in December, seemingly an odd goal, however, being obese for the last 20 or so years, it will actually be an amazing accomplishment! I haven't seen the underside of 200 pounds since I was in the 8th grade, so I'm on a mission to reacquaint myself with the 100s this year. Woohoo!!
