I love this haircut but apparently I can't replicate it.

Amy's Ups and Downs

I started SparkPeople in 2004. I've had some ups and downs in the meantime. The ups were thrilling and the downs were way down. I'm trying to get back on track, recover my fitness after a long illness, and enjoy life the way it's meant to be.

My Goals:
I want to lose about 45 pounds, which leaves me still above the "chart weight" for my height but at a size I'm comfortable with.

My Program:
I'm eating 1500-1800 calories a day, with more of a focus on fruits, vegetables, and proteins than I usually have.. but I'm not going low carb. I love cereal and bread and pasta too much to do that to myself.

For exercise I'm taking a three mile walk at lunchtime several times a week, hiking on weekends, taking a yoga class, and riding my horse.

Personal Information:
I'm 38 and I live in central Maryland. I have a desk job working as a computer geek. I have young dressage horse. To keep myself sane I like to go backpacking.

Other Information:
My favorite books, movies, and tv shows are all about small women who kick butt. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my hero.

good luck with your spine. look into alternative stuff, but don't rush to do anything.

My back used to hurt fiercely, off and on. Last spring it started hurting at a low level, all the time. I finally went and got an xray, and then an MRI. For my age, my disks are in pretty bad shape. I have degenerative disk disease (which, most people do - just not this much at 41.) I have five bulging disks, of which two are torn. 3 lumbar, 1 cervical, 1 thoracic. My L5-S1 disk is barely visible in the xrays for the boney growth.

Anyway, I'm having physical therapy to build up my core muscles to support it better, so in theory it'll hurt less and I can do more.

I'm around! I haven't been social, just been logging calories. Haven't heard from Paolina.
