Amy's Journey

Hi, my name is Amy. I'm 34 yr's old and have been a member of Sparkpeople for 4 yr's. I've lost a total of 114lbs. I am very thankful for this site. It has been a great tool for me during my journey of losing weight and eating healthier. There is so much inspiration and movitivation here.

I've been in a rutt for the last 6 months and just been struggling with not letting food take control again. I'm an emotional eater and well for the last 1.5 yrs my husband has been layed off and hasn't found work and things financially are starting to get tight. I've not been able to buy certain foods due to cost and the less healthier foods seem to be winning the battle. My will power seems non-existant. There use to be a time when my philosophy was "I don't deny myself anything I just eat it in moderation."

Anyways I'm back to take control. I go to the gym atleast 5 days a week. I'm slowly trying to add Strength Training into my workouts. I play softball and try to stay active. Ofcourse none of this will matter if I don't get the eating under control. Tracking food is such an essential to winning this battle with food and losing weight.

Plan of Action:
- Stay focused on the Positive. Baby steps. Negative energy doesn't motivate.
- Put a 100% into my workouts. Just don't go through the motions, burn, burn, burn. No Pain No Gain!
- Make better food choices. Portion Control and track food.
- Enjoy life. Don't let weight rule me. I CAN and will win this battle with weight and food.

*******Update 11/06/12*********

- Well after a ways away from sparkpeople and some life challenges and loss of my daughter (12/09/11) I am back to try and gain control of my lifestyle and lose some weight. My first goal is to lose 20lbs. I'm on day 3 of working out so lets hope I can stick to it. I did it before and I hope I can do it again. As things progress I will update my journey.

When we feel the satisfaction of accomplishment we are motivated to take on new challenges. Knowing that the attention and resources we’ve channeled into a certain goal have brought us success gives us the confidence we need to take on more responsibilities. We also have a greater understanding of our own personal strengths, and that knowledge enables us to make good choices about the plans we make, the tasks we take on, and the new goals we wish to set for ourselves. We are ushered along by the momentum of our own success, and greater success naturally manifests as a result. Use today’s accomplishments to fuel you into action by taking on more endeavors, and you will enjoy still greater achievements.

ARE YOU STILL FOCUSED AND STICKING WITH IT?

WE'RE MISSING YOU!
