Never Give Up....

Hi, I'm Amy from the Denver, Colorado area. I'm shy until I get to know you, I am socially challenged, something that I am going to be working hard at overcoming in 2014! I am a 5 year stroke survivor and a 17 year Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor! I have been a member of Sparkpeople since August 31, 2009.

I developed peripheral neuropathy in my lower legs, feet and a little bit in my hands from the chemotherapy I had 18 years ago. I have had ups and downs dealing with the neuropathy. The medication I have been on is no longer working. I am mow starting a new medication I am 3 weeks into it and it is helping a little I am hoping that once move up to the dose the Neurologist wants me on works. I have had some days here and there that it hurts really bad, when I get out of bed I fall down just because of the severe pain!

I love to do yoga as it relaxes me as well as helping to increase my flexibility and helps to reduce my neuropathy pain. I go for walks daily with Shadow my walking buddy. I do strength training routines through Koko fit Club.

I am very active in volunteering my time and raising funds for the American Cancer Society. My main volunteer work for them is through their Relay For Life campaign I am the 2015 Marketing,Online and Social Communications Lead for the Northglenn/Webster Lake Division in Colorado. I am really excited about introducing even more new technology to our Relay this year! I am new to the marketing end, which is going to be a challenge this year and I love challenges!

On May 27th 2014 I was diagnosed as having Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, which means my cerebral fluid is high. This has been causing my headaches and possibly my numbness and weakness attacks. I have been advised to lose more weight and I have to be put on a medicine to help bring the pressure down, I am allergic to both medications so the only way to being the pressure down is spinal taps. I got an even worse headache from the spinal tap so I am not at all thrilled with the whole deal.
