Hi, I'm Amy from the Denver, Colorado area. I'm shy until I get to know you, I am socially challenged, something that I am going to be working hard at overcoming in 2013! I am a 4 year stroke survivor and a 16 year Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor! I have been a member of Sparkpeople since August 31, 2009. I have lost 53 pounds as of June 7, 2013!!! I love to do yoga as it relaxes me as well as helping to increase my flexiblity and helps to reduce my neurpoathy pain. I go for walks daily with Shadow my walking buddy. I am very active in volunteering my time and raising funds for the American Cancer Society. My main volunteer work for them is through their Relay For Life campaign I am the Food Committee Chair and Team Development Co-Chair for the Webster Lake division. I also help local animal rescues! Ranging from transporting animals to rescue facilities, cleaning facilities, walking and playing with the animals! I developed peripheral neuropathy in my lower legs, feet and hands from the chemotherapy I had 16 years ago. I let it get the best of me to the point where it hurt too much to get out of bed. I lived this way for 13 years. I had a small stroke(not a TIA) Feburary 4, 2009 exactly a week after my 40th birthday. I was told to get active and eat a healthy diet or I would be back within the year possibly with a more severe stroke or die. I found Sparkpeople 8 months later and it has changed my life for the better! I am now active and eating healthier than I ever have in my life! I have been on pain management theapy for 10 months now. I do still despite the pain management therapy have bad days when my pain flares up pretty bad, I force myeslf to get moving anyway!
