I've been away from SP far too long! I lost about 10 lbs last summer when I had joined SP, but when school started up again, I gained it all back and then another 7.
I eat fairly healthy meals and stay as active as I can, but my biggest problem has been portion control and my sweet tooth; as well as realizing my energy levels were dropping this past year, making it difficult to motivate myself to hit the gym or go running. Going back to school also provided some obstacles as well... I often went out to eat with friends and partied almost every weekend (it was my last year... and I wanted to spend as much time soaking up this phase of my life) as well as delving into cooking.... a lot... so the pounds came on.
After a reunion with my friends for Halloween this fall, I was motivated once again to start exercising and eating well (I love green smoothies and have started to eat about 4 small meals/snacks and one regular cooked meal). I lost 8 pounds since then, but stopped exercising regularly/eating as well due to catching some viruses back-to-back two weeks ago.
Three weeks ago, I also found out that I have a low level of thyroid hormones... which only aids in weight gain and fatigue. Hopefully the synthetic hormone that was prescribed will help me lose the stubborn weight.
I'm still recovering from the stomach flu (when I'm sick, I basically live off of comfort food... mostly mac and cheese and soup... so not so healthy/lack of veggies - thank goodness I didn't gain weight during the last couple weeks!), but once I'm better, I'm planning on making this a lifestyle change.
I even have a "wall of motivation" up in my room with various quotes/articles/workouts to keep me going (many taken from pinterest!) and have put off applying to jobs abroad for a couple of months (it will take at least a couple months to get my paperwork settled for my visa and finish my certification course anyhow) - so hopefully I can dedicate a good chunk of my time to reach my goals!
I would like to:
-lose 18 more pounds and gain definition in arms/thighs/abs.
-wear a bikini.
-run a marathon.
-travel around the world.
I have a gym membership, but I usually just use the elliptical (I don't go often). I run a few times a week, an average of 6 miles and have been doing Jillian Michaels DVDs and Insanity (In May, I've started doing one JM workout in the morning and one Insanity workout in the evening).
I also have been trying to fit in 20-30 min. of Pilates (Pop Pilates and/or Tone It Up) before Insanity.
Also, in my rotation, from time-to-time, I do:
-Hip Hop Abs
My eating habits - well, I hate fried foods and soda, so I don't really have to worry about that. And I don't eat salad dressing and I looove veggies (my family/friends think I'm a health food nut). My weaknesses are sweets, dairy, cheese and pasta... I'm trying to limit my portion sizes and cook healthier meals. (Update April 2012: success! I love to hike, take steps classes, travel, swim, camp, bake, sing, volunteer, play pranks and dance.

Hey! Glad to hear from you! My son is 9 months old and quite the wonderful handful. I haven't been watching my weight, eating right, exercising, etc. I also haven't been getting much sleep or much time to myself. I am going to try again though. Hopefully, we can both keep each other focused. :)

Thanks for your comment! Wow, you certainly are drinking a lot of water! Everyone has told me that I would probably lose a lot more weight if I could just buckle down and drink more water, but I just find it so hard to even drink a glass or two every day. It seems like such a chore!
I went back to work a couple weeks ago, and I am already feeling burnt out. I think I just need to take some time out of my busy schedule to take care of myself, because losing weight would really make my life easier. I would love to feel comfortable in my skin again. :)
Congrats on the eight pounds lost! Looks like I am going to have to work hard to catch up to you. What has been working well for you?

Congrats on three pounds lost, and thanks for your comment! I haven't come on in awhile, so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I have been doing well on and off with my eating, but the off days are ruining my on days. This whole weight loss thing is just such a challenge, because it is about changing my whole way of living my life, not just about making a few healthier choices here or there. If I was at the weight I wanted, that might work, but trying to LOSE weight is a completely different matter.
Right now, sigh, I guess I am just freaking out a bit because I am going to see my husband's family for a week (in a few days), and I have gained about ten pounds since I saw them last. I just hate it that I am going to be so incredibly self-conscious just because I couldn't buckle down this month and drop those ten pounds.
Oh well, sorry for the sad post.

Hi, I saw your intro on the 20 somethings page, and wanted to see if you needed another sparkbuddy! I am 25 years old, and I am currently trying to lose about 40 pounds. I recently got a personal trainer and have started watching what I am eating, and I have already lost 4 pounds, so I am feeling really hopeful.
