Hello! My name is Ann. I am 31 years old, married, and have three gorgeous sons: ages 9, 2, and 1. I am currently living in Rhode Island, where I was born and raised. I am 5' 1" short!
I have always been heavy. Even as a child, I was heavier than many of the other children and had to shop in the "pretty plus" section of clothing stores. After high school, I maintained my weight of about 225 pounds but gained the most after the birth of my first son. It took a few years to creep up on me but the highest amount I ever weighed was 274 pounds, and that amount was last seen in mid-2009, as I refused to weigh myself or refused to know what my weight was when I went to the doctor. Soon I was put on a medicine that made me drop 20 pounds, unintentionally, but a more than welcome side effect. That left me at around 253 pounds -- my official SP starting weight (the first time around).
Well, two more babies later and here I am, weighing in at 250 pounds and completely addicted to sugar and grain. However, I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. So... good-bye gluten, wheat, barley, rye, and oats. In response, I've taken on a Paleo diet and I'm following the auto-immune protocol (for now). I should have done this sooner -- I'm dropping weight without even trying! And when I do try (exercise wise), the numbers disappear even faster. I know this won't last forever, but for the first time in my life, I'm excited about losing weight and about my future!
So... here's to trying to fight the fight... again!

* I'm using SparkPeople to track my progress in all areas (nutrition, exercise, etc.).
* Eat a paleo diet to control my Celiac Disease and any other auto-immune related issues.
* Slowly incorporate exercise again.
I live in Rhode Island, where I was born and raised, with my husband and our three sons.
I have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I've also had surgery to realign my left knee back in 2001 and to realign my right knee in 2002. I also had my gallbladder removed in 2012, in between my last two pregnancies.
My mother died when she was just 57 years old and I, 24. She suffered from obesity, diabetes, pulmonary hypertension, and congestive heart failure, among a host of other issues as well. It is her absence that is a constant reminder of my own mortality and potential for many health issues. I miss her dearly, but I am not ready to be with her again. My children need me, more than I need to overeat and overindulge!
