Ann's Weight Loss Journey

Hello! My name is Ann. I am 30 years old, married, and have three gorgeous sons! The oldest is 9 years old, the middle is twenty two months old, and the baby is eight months old. I am currently living in Rhode Island, where I was born and raised. I am 5' 1" short!

I have always been heavy. Even as a child, I was heavier than many of the other children and had to shop in the "pretty plus" section of clothing stores. After high school, I maintained my weight of about 220 pounds but ...

After high school, I maintained my weight of about 220 pounds but gained the most after the birth of my first son. It took a few years to creep up on me but the highest amount I ever weighed was 274 pounds, and that amount was last seen in mid-2009, as I refused to weigh myself or refused to know what my weight was when I went to the doctor. Soon I was put on a medicine that made me drop 20 pounds, unintentionally, but a more than welcome side effect. That left me at around 253 pounds -- my official SP starting weight.

Well, two more babies later and here I am, weighing in at 246.4 pounds and completely addicted to sugar and grain. So, I'm trying to cut out those things until I can better handle my cravings for them. Although, I do let myself eat whatever I desire on Sundays since we stay for some fellowship after church service, which includes some wonderful food! And so I don't feel so restricted. So... I don't track what I eat on Sundays, only Monday through Saturday.

I've tried dieting in the past, over and over again. I always felt deprived. I tried Weight Watchers twice, and actually enjoyed it. But the amount of money I had to dish out each month was too much for my family, as both me and my husband had returned to school and were broke. I even tried SparkPeople in the past, but couldn't get motivated enough to keep up with it.

I hope things change for me this time around. I feel different and more motivated to fight my way to a lower weight. Feeling constantly depressed about my weight is getting to me. And the idea that I can't chase after my two newest babies is heartbreaking! On top of it all, my left knee is beginning to give me problems again and I'm pretty sure it's due to me not taking care of myself.

So... here's to trying to fight the fight... again!

My Program:
* I'm using SparkPeople to track my progress in all areas (nutrition, exercise, etc.).

* Eat a paleo diet from Monday through Saturday, with a break on Sunday to enjoy the wonderful food during our church's fellowship after service, and to not feel so restricted. I love my church family!!!

* Slowly incorporate exercise again, not to injure my knee though.

Personal Information:
I live in Rhode Island, where I was born and raised, with my husband and our three sons.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS, insulin-resistance, pre-diabetes, sleep apnea, along with some mental health issues. (No, I'm not completely crazy... yet!) =P I've also had surgery to realign my left knee back in 2001 and to realign my right knee in 2002. I also had my gallbladder removed in 2012, in between my last two pregnancies.

Other Information:
My mother died when she was just 57 years old and I, 24. She suffered from obesity, diabetes, pulmonary hypertension, and congestive heart failure, among a host of other issues as well. It is her absence that is a constant reminder of my own mortality and potential for many health issues. I miss her dearly, but I am not ready to be with her again. My children need me, more than I need to overeat and overindulge!

Heyou : ) Hope all is well with yourself and fam. Hope you're having better luck staying motivated than I am lol

Not sure if you would be up for this, but I need reasons to stay on track... Would you be up for a once a week (or bi weekly) meet? Maybe we meet somewhere middle of the road for us for a healthy (make me 'cause I won't otherwise) meal or maybe some shopping errands.

Don't feel obligated, I know you've got a fam and little guy and busy mama schedule, but if that is something you would be interested in, LET ME KNOW!!!
