I've been a SparkPeople member off and on for years, but I didn't commit to using the site until January 2013. I am just one of many SP members who recommend never giving up on yourself - even if you just lurk around this site for a long time!

After losing 42lbs in 2013, this year is a struggle for me. It isn't the healthy eating or exercise that is a challenge - instead, an unexpected trauma in my life completely derailed my positive thinking. Although I am slowly healing from my unexpected tragedy, it's taken me a few months to get back on track and revisit my goals.

To continually examine and adjust what my body needs to get, feel, and stay HEALTHY mentally, physically, and spiritually.

My Program:
Treating myself with kindness.

Maintaining my spirituality - my lifeline.

Spending 80% of what I eat on what's good for me.

Drinking a LOT of water.

Exercising every day, whether for a few minutes or a few hours.

Getting lots of sleep.

Cherishing the good gifts and perfect presents I receive each day.

Taking lots of deep breaths, stretching, and enjoying my body's vitality.

My focus will ALWAYS be health - not weight. I've never cared about my dress size, but I do care about having a heart attack or diabetes.

Personal Information:
I'm originally from San Francisco, living elsewhere now.

I am a writer, although not a published one, and I also love to read. I really enjoy people, road trips, creating art, looking at other people's art, music, and old movies.

I'm also a really, really, REALLY big Bjork fan.

Other Information:
I have lived with Clinical Depression for 15 years, so I truly understand the difficulty of trying to get physically healthy when you're not mentally healthy. Although my depression has been in remission for years, living with it is still a challenge.

Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the page of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!

emoticon I just KNEW you were a sister! You have such a kind and beautiful face so I know it radiates in and out. All the best to you in 2014. I lost 30 lbs but gained 7 back and also deal with depression (bipolar). But, as a recent retiree much of my stress is gone and my room mate is a very spiritual sister also. We have two cats.
