begins with a single step. I've taken that step - finally.
I began this weight loss journey alone...on Thanksgiving 2009. I managed through the holidays to lose a little more weight. But then I found SparkPeople in mid-January 2010. And I'm so thankful!
I have been overweight my entire life. I remember with great mortification being weighed in my 2nd grade classrooom, and weighing 80 pounds. I remember weighing 160 in high school and fretting because my jeans were too tight. I remember in college having to have a bridesmaid dress custom made, because I was too heavy to wear off-the-rack. And how odd I looked, because my dress was a different color than all the other bridesmaids.
I remember I weighed 175 when we got married in 1993. And my horror of hitting 190 later that first year. Then a few years later, the babies started coming. After 5 pregnancies, I simply numbly accepted that I weighed 240. After major surgery, and intense grieving, I saw 265 during a long, dark numbness for almost 5 years.
But God woke me up, helped my doctor figure out what was wrong with me (low thyroid and adrenal fatigue), and now I feel like I'm waking up from a long, long, dark dream. I'm so thankful!
I'm a SAHM (for the most part) of two lovely daughters, also known as The Princesses. They are my greatest cheerleaders. They also make great hall monitors, asking me if I should have that cookie or not. :-) My husband-so-dear works in computer security at Purdue University. We are active in our church. I'm one of the sign language interpreters for our budding deaf ministry.
We homeschool our daughters, and we love homeschooling! Both girls need it for the enrichment, and our youngest needs it for the extra care and attention, because she has mild cerebral palsy. She has an amazing birth story. (If interested, email me, and I'll send it to you.)
Most of all, I love Jesus.
-Lose at least 50 or more in 2014 to goal of 140.
-Be able to T-Tapp's MORE workout.
-Gradually increase exercise to 1 hr/day, 6x/wk
-Document calories in/out at least 90%.
-Improve consistency in several areas

In my spare time (yeah, right!), I like to sew, scrapbook, and read. I usually only get some reading done, though.
In addition to losing weight on my body, I am working on losing weight in my house = decluttering! I'd rather take a walk, though, so I'm making slow progress there.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
