In August of 2006, I finally realized I'd let my weight get ahead of me when I foolishly got on a public scale and my (then) seven-year-old son announced to the entire grocery store, "Mommy, you weigh 200! Isn't that quite a lot?" Since that time I've lost 53 lbs. and regained 13, so it's time to knock off the last thirty pounds before I leave my thirties! Wish me luck :)

I managed to lose the thirteen pounds by March of 2009, and I quit smoking on March 21, 2009. Since then I've not had another cigarette.
My weight has been another matter -- it's fluctuated, spiking up to 164, dropping to 149, then up to 168, down to 158, up to 166, and now I am down to 159.75.
In my search for fitness as well as a lower scale number I've been lifting weights, walking on my treadmill, and finally started the Couch to 5K program. I first started running last fall, and then the whole family came down with H1N1. I restarted in January, this time with a group, and on Week 2 I hurt myself.
For two months I didn't know what I'd done, only that my knees were unstable. After numerous doctors' appointments and testing, we learned I developed stress fractures in both legs.
The recovery phase should be interesting :)

I've been released by my orthopedist on the stress fractures -- hooray!! Back at it, but *sensibly*. My ortho says I should be back at full functionality and able to do whatever I want. I'm questioning if running is in the list of stuff I want to do. But otherwise, yay!

So far so good! After the stress fracture drama of last year I continued to work on my eating, and added back cardio with my intensity being more about the incline than the speed. I also returned to my resistance training, and even added in Tabata sprints on the treadmill after a bit of time (Google "Tabata sprints" for an explanation -- those suckers are brutal, but satisfying). With all that, I dropped to 145 just before the holidays struck, and a quick stop on the scale yesterday showed me a 146, so I'm well pleased considering I pulled a muscle in my back early in December and have been off my exercise for a bit.
Here's to 2011... bring it on!!

133.5. Only 3.5 more pounds to go! So that whole goal of "by 40" was a bit off... ;)

I had an endometrial ablation in November and since then I haven't been able to shove the scale below 138. It's not heartbreaking or anything, but dang it's annoying. On the plus side, I've been holding steady at 138 - 142 since then, with just the standard hormonal fluctuations (the ablation doesn't erase those!).
So at the moment, I'm maintaining. And that's a good thing. I'm playing with how many calories I can eat to hold at this weight, and I think in some time I'll power off the last 10 lbs, but since my body seems to want to stay this weight right now I'm going to honor that rather than frustrate myself endlessly at the scale.
I've started belly dancing lessons, and after injuring myself with my resistance exercises I'm also getting back on track with those. Love of cardio remains elusive. I am sick unto death of my exercise bike, but it's the only exercise I can do that won't make my knees scream in protest. So I'm struggling with that and trying to tell myself that belly dancing counts as cardio... but I know better. Oh well. It's all a process.
On the plus side, I'm down to 2 Diet Cokes a day. As a 12+ can per day drinker, that's pretty amazing!

It's been a heck of a year, and I weighed 162.2 this morning. I know part of that is water retention, but it's not making me happy.
Time to kick this back into gear. I hate, hate, HATE regain! Ugh. Sigh.

To recover from the stress fractures in both my legs I managed to get trying to be fit and fabulous. Right now, I'll take walking normally LOL
Recovery is underway. Walking normally is marvelous :)
Consume 1200 - 1550 calories per day (averaged per week 1350-ish/day)
5 hours cardio per week
5 days resistance training per week, alternating upper and lower body
