The Journey Has Begun, Something to Loose

Hi, my name is Julie. Tired of being tired all of the time I want to loose not just a few pounds quickly but many pounds over time and keep it off. I am on this journey not only for myself but for my family. I am married and have two small girls, we all deserve to live a healthy active life. I recently found this site and believe that it will be the turning point for me.

My Goals:
Change my eating habbits, get active, live a healthy lifestyle with my family. For this journey I am starting off as slow as possible, and have tried to keep my goals realistic to 1.25lbs. per week if possible.

My Program:
I am watching what I am eating and paying more attention to nutrition. I am slowly becomeing more active. My body gives me trouble now due to the excess weight and even playing with my kids can be a major workout for me. I have decided to start slow and work up to more.

Personal Information:
My name is Julie, I am from California. I am maried and have two beautiful girls ages (almost) 3 and 6 who I want to set a better example for. I recently returned to school and completed my AS Degree program and now am faced with the overwhelming mission of finding work.

****UPDATE**** My husband and I made the difficult decision to move 70 miles away from friends and family shortly after I began my journey. It may as well be another State, Country or Continent for that matter!!! The kids are now 9 and 5 (almost 6) both are in school. I am working full time on an alternative work schedule (basically rotating 4 days a week working a 10 hour day) another reason that I haven't seen the results I would like.

First off I wanna say hello, I'm Kristina aka Kris from Fresno, CA. I see you are a member on the SP Fresno - Official Team. I know it's been quite slow and VERY quiet for quite some time which had probably not helped a lot of people, but me and 1 of the co-leaders are trying to get more action on the team! There are a few challenges going on, feel free to come and jump in on them!

"There's a difference between interest & commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
- Kenneth Blanchard

SparkPeople Translation
Are you interested in your goals, or are you fully committed? One of the most common complaints among goal setters nowadays is that there’s just not enough time to get to the ones that “really matter.” The real culprit is that most people don’t raise their goals beyond the level of general interest. They’re waiting for a vague time in the future when other things won’t get in the way or when they wrap things up. In other words, when it’s more convenient. And of course, that time never comes, does it? If your goals are truly that important to you, don’t let anything stand in your way. You have the power to say ‘no’ and to set your priorities. Make that commitment and you automatically create an obligation that you’re bound to fulfill.
