Congrats on losing that sixty pounds. What a great accomplishment! Spark will help you get the rest off! The same thing happened to me three years ago. I lost forty and needed to get another twenty gone. I did it quickly with spark. Of course like you, I love food and once I get to my goal weight I get sloppy. The good thing about spark is if I gain 10 pounds back, I work to get it off instead of working to get 60 off. It's easier that way!
Anyway, have fun earning points, trophies, and friends. That's the fun part. Keeping drinking water and pretend you already ate the treats you really want to eat.
Congrats on taking the next step to reaching a healthier you by getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support- it's also lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. And losing 60 lbs is absolutely awesome - I think you'll find the support you need to conquer the rest of your 'issues' and it sounds like you're ready for the change!
I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized here instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' so it's good for people wanting to lose weight, but also to maintain a previous loss, get healthier, improve fitness and many other goals including gaining weight or saving money - it's about waaaaaay more than 'just' losing weight so you have definitely come to the right place! You're off to a great start already, just by posting here and I think you'll be at your goal before you know it!
Another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
Please check out SparkTeams - you can choose them by age group, lifestyle or interests, geographic location or several other ways. I'd like to invite you to join the Virtual Walk/Run/Cycle Thru the US @ exercise.lbl.gov SparkTeam - it's a really fun way to track your walking while you travel 'virtually' across America from Virginia to Oregon. Go to the SparkTeam page at www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_i ndividual.asp?gid=19805 for more information.
Some of the other teams that are good for beginners include the Official 10-minute Daily Exercise Streak Challenge, Starting Over Weekly Mini-Challenge Team, 10k Steps A Day and Motivation & Positive Attitude Plan - but there are so many to choose from, you can have a great time looking for the ones that seem to fit you best! In fact, I suggest joining more than one group, post your intro there and write blogs as often as you can - you will find tons of friends and support that way, I promise!!
If you ever need any help using features of the site, there are tutorial videos under the HELP section that can show you how to use the features of the site. You can also find them on the START page and several other places on the site. It takes awhile to get the hang of the site but you can earn SparkPoints and Trophies while you explore and learn!
Hello Always Loca! :) CONGRATULATIONS on your successes already!!! WHOO HOO!!! At least you know WHY you are overeating! It's your headspace and feelings! And Dr. Phil always says weight issues aren't about food! It's about your headspace. So now you know exactly what you have to work on to reach your final goals!!! How cool is that!? Your biggest enemy isn't food silly! It's YOU! :) Also changing what you eat and what you reach for can help obviously. The only way to break the cycle for good is to break the habit that you reach for food FIRST! For everything! Glad you love Zumba. I would suggest some circuit training as well at some stange to challenge your body in different ways. And here is a quickie basline of what I suggest people aim to eat daily:
2-3 servings of fruit (1 piece/1 cup, etc) 4-5 servings of NON-STARCHY veggies a day 80 oz of water per day at least a multi vitamin At each meal: lean protein, complex carb, and healthy fat. 1-2 servings of dairy (milk or yoghurt)
When you get this in, and have calories left over, it's easy to pick...but if you shoot blind and guess, you can easily sabotage yourself. Also..post your goals everywhere and tell supportive people who can encourage you and hold you accountable. You know you can do this, but you're sort of in the "take it or leave it" stage...I'll work on it tomorrow...I'll start over tomorrrow...I believe the final part of your journey is changing your headspace and you will SLAM DUNK the rest of your weight! you Can do it!!!! Let me know if you need anything! :) xo Patty 1771 days ago
