Spark has been a really great motivator for me since May 2008. I lost more than 60 pounds!! Hooray for me! But then I had surgeries and a husband diagnosed at a young age with vascular dementia in 2010. We lost income and Internet access. I really need the accountability and support of the Spark community. So as soon as we could (in August this year) we got wireless and I'm finally sparking again trying to lose 50 of those 60 pounds again. Since August I have lost 23# just by setting 5 pound goals with small tangible rewards. (My first one was new socks!). Spark is a great way to live and lose and maintain.

Fitness Minutes: 31,687

My Goals:
1. Lose at least 5# per month.
2. Increase movement on a daily basis.
3. Monthly increase weight loss goal, instead of looking at the big picture!
4. Reach first weight goal by August 2010


My Program:
1. Drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day.
2. Cutting out processed foods with lots of salt and keeping sodium intake under 2500.
3. Eating 5+ fruits and veggies per day.
4. Strength exercises daily x 30 minutes.
5. Keep cholesterol intake under 300.
6. Think positive thoughts about progress achieved and learn from the little setbacks that occur.
7. Don't give up...don't look back.
8. Get rid of the clothes that don't fit any more. I won't need them!!



Personal Information:
I'm a transplant to SD from Niagara Falls area, living here in South Dakota for over 20 years now and loving it! I have a son and daughter, both married and living in state also. And, of course, three terrific grandsons! What a blessing! I'm also a PW (you other PWs know what I mean!!), which presents its own challenges from time to time.


Other Information:
I love to SWIM and also READ(what would you expect from someone who works in a library?)...mostly I read mysteries, especially by Dick Francis, Dorothy Gilman, Agatha Christie, Margaret Truman, Sue Grafton, Anne George and Joan Hess.
If I could read a book while swimming, life would be great!
