I started SparkPeople on June 1, 2008 at my highest weight that I've ever been aware of about 245lbs. (I had no access to a scale at the time, so the exact number is a guess.) I wanted to be down to the lowest I'm aware I've ever been since reaching legal adulthood, 170lbs, by my 27th birthday but sabotaged myself after losing 40 pounds between June and October 2008.

I've always been overweight. On top of bad genes and poor nurturing in the kitchen, the last few years have been horribly stressful and eating was my way to cope.

I want to be healthy. I don't know what weight that is, but I want to be it.

I made my goal of getting back down to around "normal" for me, about 200 pounds, sometime in October 2008. Then my husband and I moved from sea level in Washington to 7000 feet in New Mexico, and I used the thin air as an excuse to fall out of my exercise routine. Then it was training for the new job. Then it was the silly swing shift at the job. Then it was suddenly winter and freezing outside. Excuses, excuses. During this time, I'd still log onto SparkPeople and get my points and I was doing well drinking 9+ glasses of water a day, but I wasn't really tracking what I ate (though I still generally made better choices) or exercising.

At the end of May 2009, I left my destructive marriage and moved in with my mother in Oregon. At the end of September 2009, I've recommitted to losing this weight. Mom is succeeding at Weight Watchers and she's not allowed to be skinnier than I am, dangit. We joined a new community center together and I've remembered how great exercising makes me feel. I've got a new job with steady hours and that pays enough to eat healthier again.

I can do this!

My Goals:
I have a short-term goal of losing 10% of my weight by September, putting me at 180 pounds. I did better than that last summer.

Ultimately, I'd like to be healthy, wherever that falls. Under 150lbs is "normal BMI" for my height. I don't trust BMI entirely, but 140 seems like a good place to eventually shoot for. Even if it's just to say "I lost 100 pounds."

Personal Information:
I graduated from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon in June 2008 with a BS in Environmental Studies--Geography.

However, moving 3 times in less than a year means I'm once again unemployed and my resume looks like hell. I'm currently job hunting.

Other Information:
It's kind of fun to do the impossible.

YES! She totally has faint rings on her tail! Is that indicative of Korat?! she's a shelter kitty and we've been trying to figure out what makes up the bulk of her background!
