Hi, I have been leading a healthy lifestyle since October 2006. I woke up one day and was fed up. When I shared my disgust with my husband of 21 years (at that time) he shared his unease with my growing weight. At first I was heartbroken, then angry, then I decided to do something about my life. I had allowed my stress and PCOS (metabolic disorder) to control me and my weight had spiraled out of control up to 242. I began my search for a personal trainer and bought yet another book about weight control. Fortunately I picked up Dr. Oz's "You On A Diet" - it really spoke to me.

After training with Rosemary for 1.5 years 3 x's per week and following a healthy eating plan I was down 13 lbs. It was very disheartening but I felt great and I noticed small changes in my body. I decided that this must "just be me" and as long as I am living a healthy lifestyle I shouldn't focus on my weight.

My PCOS has always stressed me out and was a vicious cycle. I felt very cheated that even though I led a relatively healthy, active lifestyle I stayed fat. I realize now that my "unfairness complex" was a stumbling block to being my true self.

Then I ran into an old friend with whom I shared weight woes. She looked fabulous, she had shed 70 lbs, her bad attitude about her ex-husband and was glowing. She really inspired me.

I kicked my workouts into high gear adding 5 days a week of pure cardio in addition to my strength, flexibility and balance training. I began writing down my food. It was like my body was waiting to see if the changes were for real.... Much to my amazement the weight just started melting away!

It was my goal to be under the elusive 200 lbs by my birthday. I met that goal in September 2008, 199!!! And then nothing!!! Except I bounced between 199 - 202 until I found sparkpeople in October 2008. After 2 weeks I was down to 195 - a new low. I'll NEVER go back... the 200's are gone forever and so is the old me.

Now my focus is on making my outside match my inside. I feel fit, healthy and attractive. For the first time in my adult life I know I can truly be fit and an average size; not just be satisified to live life under 200 lbs.

I am excited to have found a place to assist me in seeing my journey with such clarity and support. I look forward to making new friends and sharing this fantastic journey!

My Goals:
My goal is to reach 170 pounds by 5/10/11 by leading a healthy lifestyle. At that time my body will decide if it wants to shed more weight based on consistant healthy decisions that I make.

My Program:
I am committed to following a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life. Currently I am eating healthy and now thanks to sparkpeople tracking my entire program. I walk/run 3 miles 6 days a week, hour + weekend walks, strength, flexibility & balance training 2-4 times per week.

Personal Information:
I'm from the beautiful Smoky Mountains in Western NC. My husband and I are outdoor enthusiasts. We love to travel and are avid scuba divers.

    Kim....thanks for stopping by my page. I never realized how much that quote really meant until recently when I reevaluated my goals and realized I was more focused on the weight lately and had seen no results. Keep up the good work!
