Aloha June's Journey

I began my weight loss battle early as I can remember being chubby in my teens. I would lose the weight, regain plus a few more pounds. Lose again, regain plus a few one more time. This went on for years!

In 2002 I was again in that phase where I had lost and was at a comfortable weight and then I quit smoking that year. I was told to possibly expect to gain some weight and I did!! A Whopping 45 pounds over the next few years.

In 2002 I was again in that phase where I had lost and was at a comfortable weight and then I quit smoking that year. I was told to possibly expect to gain some weight and I did!! A Whopping 45 pounds over the next few years.

By 2010 I was up to 165 and the heaviest I had ever been in my life (except during pregnancy). I was just disgusted wth myself, had little energy, and my medical numbers were all elevated. Time for a change.

Initially I followed the Weight Watchers Points Plus Plan. Loved it and the flexibility it gave me. I lost 30 or so pounds, leveled off and then stopped losing.

In February 2012 I joined 24 Hour Fitness and began an exercise program with the help of a trainer. She began my routine to fit where I was at the time - a 67 year old woman who had not exercised since I was much much younger. I am proud to say I now hit the gym no less than 5 days a week! I am usually there 7 days a week for 1 & 1/2 hours of exercis. I take Zumba, Body Flow and aerobics in addition to my normal routine. Exercise has added another facet to my life now I feel I am nurturning my mind, body & spirit. I dropped another 5 pounds and hung on to that last 10 - the hardest to lose.

After watching Dr. Oz and seeing the Dr. Furman Eat to Live plan, I jumped right into the 6 weeks plan, lost those last 10 pounds to reach goal, my numbers are all within range and I have energy again.

June,
I must rescind what I suggested about grazing maybe not being an issue. ( not that you paid any attention - you're a pretty smart lady:)

I have had such a revelation over discovering hunger that I have to recommend that people get in touch with theirs just for the great experience.

It's an easy experiment, and it's free. :)

P.S. I still don't think it has to be unhealthy. After all, the herbivores do it.

Your story is inspirational. I can never seem to make time for myself. But that's what it takes to succeed I suppose.
Anyway, you look great & I want to follow in your footsteps now that my kids a grown & gone maybe I can do it for good!!
