Loving My New Life!

Hi, my name is Allyson. Having lived in NYC since college, I always thought I was a city girl. That was until my job moved and I went with it. Eventually I ended up clear across the country. I've discovered biking, my true passion, along with other outdoor activities and am healthier than ever!!

My Goals:
I'd like to lose 10 lbs that I've recently gained by mid June.

I'm training for the "7 Hills of Krkland" bike ride Memorial Day. Over 3,000 ft of climbing in 33 miles.

Looking forward to a week-long bike tour of the Idaho Panhandle and a weekend ride in Oregon this summer.

My Program:
I plan to cut back on my drinking to 5 drinks/week.

I'm leading training rides for our local bike club so riders can complete the Seattle-Portland ride in mid-July. This will make sure I stay in shape as well.

Personal Information:
My name is Allyson and I'm originally from New York and now live in Kirkland, WA. Since I moved here I found my passion, cycling, which has helped me maintain a 50 lb weight loss.

Hey there! I don't know if you ever made it over the Cascades to ride. I would love to ride with you. Currently I only have a mountain bike though. Also, my schedule is stupid, busy, and making me crazy. Until June 18 I have no life. If you guys decide to come check the weather. We've had consistent winds that suck the energy and fun out of riding.

UPDATE: YAY, Allyson. 1/2 pound is good. I'm sure you are building muscles from biking and as you know muscles tend to weigh more. But you are still shrinking and looking fabulous. So we will continue to keep up the momentum and we'll get to our goals, it doesn't matter how long it takes. So congratulations! Way to go!

Ally, it was 1/2 pound loss this week. I'm excited! I'm still going in the right direction. I hope you did good. emoticon emoticon

Ally, you are welcome for the goodie. So, we will just keep up the sparking until we weigh in on Thursday. I'm absolutely positively sure that you do have the potential for a quicker weight loss---but that's not really the point. We will lose as our body lets us and it will be the right amount. I do well if I lose 1/2 to 1 pound a week. So be it! You can just tie a rope on my trike and pull me along. emoticon emoticon

Hi Allyson and thanks for your comments on my pic. I'm at 95# lost now, and feeling pretty good. School is demanding, and no two days are alike, so I feel a constant sense of pressure to keep my wits about me. Without the loss I'm not sure I would have made it this far! I just noticed you are involved inthe S-P. I think I will set that as a goal for next year. So far this year, I've not participated in any rides d/t weather and time constraints. Historically, yikes that is an ugly word, I rode a century every weekend. You know before kids, family... Anyway, the Wenatchee area is kind of clicky and I've not found any riding friends which is a bummer. I keep pedaling and enjoying myself, but I'd love to connect with others at some point this summer. Thanks for your encouragement!
