I'm actually not sure what my worst was. I do know it was a 40 inch waist. Worse, I put on most of this weight during my last year of college - one of the worst periods in my life. I hardly need or want the reminder!

As for the reasons WHY? The petty reasons first: clothing that catches my eye tends not to run in larger sizes. I'm more "tie dye and denim" or "flannel and work boots" than "Lane Bryant." Second petty, clothes-related reason; my BFF is a costumer for the local sci-fi conventions, and if I'm going to advertise her skill, it better be good advertising.

The less petty reason: I lift a lot of heavy boxes and such for work. I'm also up and down stairs all day or crawling under desks, climbing up ladders, and otherwise doing a blue collar job with a white collar title. Tired of moving sluggishly, or having aches and pain. I'm not getting any younger, so might as well get the most out of what I've got.

The serious reason: Diabetes runs in my family, as does heart disease and a long list of autoimmune conditions. My father died just shy of 62 after five years of congestive heart failure because he was a classic example of what not to do with your health. My mom's immune system is actively trying to destroy her, and between those? Well, the doctor and I figured we'd better do as much as we can to hold the line on my health as long as possible and go aggressive with prevention measures.

Now I have a new reason to keep working; setting a good example for my husband. He loves good food (so do I, which is part of what attracted me to him!), but that needn't be incompatible with a healthy lifestyle. The point is to grow old together; good health will help the "growing old" part.

My Goals:
* I have a very good tech support/maintenance/repair gig, and would like to keep it.
* Down about 40 lbs so far, but another 40 or so to go.

My Program:
At this time:
* 30 min walk on lunch break - 5X week, 2.5 km distance (Pokemon Go helps)
* Weights 3X wk - 40 reps on each machine at Planet Fitness and 12 min abdominal circuit ~ 45 min
* 30 min cardio (treadmill or elliptical) on weight days, 60 min on non-weight days
* Walking to/from gym on Sat/Sun (about a 2 km each way)
* If I'm having an "ugh. gym." day, then it's a long walk in the park, sometimes supplemented with Pokemon Go.

Weekly weigh-in with TOPS Renton #101 each Monday.
Try to chart my food most days, but sometimes forget

Personal Information:
* Thrift store devotee (seriously; I've spent money in all the shops depicted in Macklemore's video)
* Frustrated with the Fat Acceptance/HAES movement. It's based on some good ideas, but they hinder more then help

    You are making awesome progress! I came to your page because I really, really want my doctor to make a positive comment about my weight when I have my annual checkup in a few months. He is the one who drove me to lose 30 plus pounds so far, with his dire warning to me. My dad was diabetic and it was terrible to see him have to inject himself with insulin. Keep up the great job! emoticon
