A Better Me!

Right now I'm just taking this a step at a time. I've been overweight since I was 15 and I've always struggled to lose. I never in a million years thought I'd be 30 years old and over 300 lbs.
I've been defeated in the past so many times that I have built up more determination this time. I know that some days I might get knocked down, but I will get right back up and keep going.

My mom and my grandmother were both overweight. My grandmother suffered from diabetes and stroke and heart issues. My mom died of lung cancer a few years ago and also had diabetes. I love them both very much but I do use their hardships as a reminder to keep going. I finally quit smoking last year, and now I am making it my goal to keep myself healthier so I can live longer and happier.

My Goals:
Eat 4-5 veggies and fruits/day.
Drink 8 cups of water/day.
Don't give up.

-Lose first 20 lbs by April 15th.

My Program:
No sodas.
No fried foods.
No caffeine.
10 - 45 min of cardio Sun-Tues-Thurs (just get up and do something!)
20 - 30 min of strength training Mon-Wed-Fri
Saturday is rest day and weigh in day.


Personal Information:
I'm from Springfield, MO. I'm 30 years old and living with my 98 year old grandfather, as his caretaker. I am living on a budget of $65 a week so eating healthier is a challenge. I am learning new ways to make my new life style affordable as I go along. Also leaving the house for long periods is an issue for me so I have to find other ways to get cardio exercise beyond going for walks.

Other Information:
I enjoy cooking very much, and learning new recipes or altering recipes to fit my own tastes has been a fun thing for me to do. I also enjoy music very much! I have a pretty broad taste in it and always have some kind of music playing where I can.

I had oral surgery and have felt lousy for several days. But, the body is made to heal itself and things are better now!
