My name is Alison and I am a happily married wife and mother of 3 children. It seems like I've been trying to lose weight my whole life. I was naturally thin as a teenager, but started gaining weight in college (the proverbial freshman 15). Since that time (for almost 30 years!) I have been struggling with emotional overeating, and thus my weight. I really want to be healthy and feel good about myself by losing weight. My ultimate goal is to lose 49 or so pounds to my goal weight of 155 pounds (I am 5'9" tall), but I may change that when I get closer to my goal. I may be able to live with a few extra pounds , especially at my age. This year (2014) I want to focus on mindful eating and exercise every other day. I have some health issues which make me tired a lot, and sometimes exercise will make me even more tired! I don't want this to be a year of excuses, though, so I will try to do it anyway.

My Goals:
I would like to exercise 3-4 times per week. I want to lose 20 pounds in 2014. I want to figure out how to deal with my multiple food allergies.

My Program:
Walking on treadmill /exercise dvd's/or pilates 3-4 times per week/ free weights 2 times per week (at home). Would love to learn to eat when I am hungry, and stop when I am full. (I lost 30 pounds that way 11 years ago...and then I had another child.....)

Personal Information:
I started eating gluten free in spring, 2009 and I feel much better physically and mentally. I do not have celiac disease, but I do have the DQ2 celiac gene. I have also overcome Lyme disease with long term antibiotics. My youngest son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS (mild autism), and I homeschool him, which makes my life extra challenging :-)

Other Information:
I have been a Christian for 25 years and know that the Lord will help me on my difficult journey. I need help and encouragement from fellow strugglers, too. I really appreciate the help I have gotten from fellow Sparkers.

Hi! It is so fun to hear from you. About starting over: I have come to the conclusion that in this battle, the victory is getting back on the horse.

I have been here before, many times. The difference is in my attitude. Instead of feeling defeated and rolling over to play dead, I am fighting this thing. In the past I have let it get WAY more out of hand before I have finally made a change.

I count this as a victory, and I hope you do to. Good luck with your battle! I hope everything else is going well for you. emoticon
