Becoming a Better Me

Greetings...Fitness has always been in my mind sometimes in the forefront and other times in the background. In 2010, at age 51, two great things happened that helped me secure it in the forefront once again. First, my boss mentioned training to do a half marathon. Although previously, a 10K had been my max (several years before), I decided I would train too. Then while training I was introduced to Sparkpeople. Greetings...Fitness has always been in my mind sometimes in the forefront and other times in the background. In 2010, at age 51, two great things happened that helped me secure it in the forefront once again. First, my boss mentioned training to do a half marathon. Although previously, a 10K had been my max (several years before), I decided I would train too. Then while training I was introduced to Sparkpeople. Well, here we in 2013, 15 races later (6-5Ks, 5-10Ks, 2 -1/2 Mara., 1 full marathon (woo hoo), & a 5 mi. "Conquer the Bridge race) Committing to participating in 6 races per year commits me to training between races. Additionally, I'm also committed to supporting 6 races per year (cheering, helping w/registration, distributing water). I am continuously working to "become a better me", spiritually, mentally, and physically. I currently need to/plan to lose 40-45 pounds. Know that "SparkPeople" inspire me. So, lets support and encourage one another. No matter what your goal(s) is/are, go for it and "Become a Better You"!!!

My Goals are to be Fit & Fabulous at 50+.

My Program:
Walking (min. 1mi. & 1 flight of stairs) 4-5 times per week, playing tennis 2X per week, & going dancing 2x per month. Eating more fruits & veggies, drinking more water, & eating less meat.

Doing the WALK AWAY THE POUNDS videos with Leslie Sanstone is worthwhile if you can't get outside to walk. She has them for a mile or even three miles. Remember, you don't have to do one all at once, and so you can do 10 minutes and come back later in the day.

Hi ! I was looking at your Spark Page and realized that you and I are a lot alike. I just have a couple of years on you emoticon
Have done a bunch of 3k's for Charity. In 2011 I did a 10K, in 2012 I did two half marathons, in 2013 I did a full marathon. In 2014 I have done a half marathon, a full marathon and on August 17 I will do another full marathon. Are we crazy? Keep telling myself it is just a walk. Walk / Run. I can beat my last time by a couple of minutes. Great to read your comments on the Message Board!
