I have been on my current trek to lose weight since about a year ago when I found out my cholesterol levels were high, but I really became serious around January of this year when I read about SparkPeople for the first time in a New Year's Resolution type article. I'm a wife, teacher, daughter, sister, and all in all, a pretty laid back person. Of course, being laid back is one of the ways I got to where I am. I worked really hard and lost about 60 lbs in a matter of about 6 months. My goal was to get down to 125 or 130, but then th marriage and a pregnancy took precidence. Unfortunately, we miscarried, but we plan to try again when we are ready. I've been down a long road, but taking back my health is going to be a big step in getting my life where I want it to be. Anyone who would like to work with me or offer support, feel free. I love new buddies. I am trying to ward off all of the health hazards that come with obesity, and the first step is to get rid of the o-word itself, of course. My goal is to break the cycle of heart disease and diabetes that is forming a pattern in my family. I will continue to improve!

My Program:
I am going to the gym regularly now. I am currently working with a trainer at Anytime Fitness. I'm choosing better foods than I was, but it's a constant struggle. I am drinking water more often. I actually make my goal most days! I've cut out coffee!!! Sweets are a struggle for me again.
Personal Information:
My name is Amanda. I am from Northeast Texas. I started my weight loss in September. I've gone from almost 230lbs to 175 now. I want to set small goals to work toward my overall goal of having a healthier life.
Other Information:
I love to travel when my budget allows for it. My dream vacation was in Ireland (still is) and my husband and I were able to go there on our honeymoon. Next on our list is Australia (One day, *sigh*) I love music. I am working on a work out play list on my iPod now. I love reading. My favorite series right now is the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I also love the Mortal Instruments series and teen reads like Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Most recently I read and loved Heaven is for Real! by Todd Burpo
