Mama Getting her Groove Back

I am a mommy to a toddler (almost 3) and an 8 month old. Through the process of getting and staying pregnant, I have gained 65lbs. I want to get back into shape before my daughters 1st birthday so I am not shy about being in the pictures.

My Goals:
I want to lose weight so that I can play with my kids and not get tired or sore. I also want to feel comfortable being in pictures with them. I want to lose 60lbs to start and then maybe another 10lbs. We'll see...

My Program:
Being a single mom to 2 little ones, makes having a "program" difficult. I am eating heathy and exercising. I exercise when I can, even if that is doing 10 minutes on the treadmill while cooking dinner. My goal is to get to the gym 3x a week but it is just a goal and doesn't always happen. I walk during my lunch and my strength exercises are those that can be done without gym equipment. I also play with my kids, crawling on the floor with them (sometimes on my back), do crunches with them on my stomach, etc...

Personal Information:
I have two kids who are the light of my life. Along with being a mommy, I am a school teacher. Right now I am on special assignment working with teachers on how to use different programs that our district offers.

Other Information:
Ready to get busy and get my life back!

Congrats on getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support- it's also lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together. It sounds like you've been off to a good start - don't worry about 1 lb - it's normal for our weight to fluctuate and I can actually see 2-3 lbs change almost daily, going up and down, so look at the overall trend, not every little bump along the road.

Sometimes the best way to start is to just pick a small goal such as drinking 8 glasses of water a day or eating 5 fruits and veggies plus a small exercise goal such as increasing whatever you've been doing by 10% - I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized here instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' and another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
