"Runners just do it - they run for the finish line even if someone else has reached it first. "

I'm fat. No more excuses, no more justifications. I'm fat and I run and I do yoga and I'm healthy. I eat anything and just about everything that I want but in smaller portions. I refuse to give up my happiness for the sake of a smaller waistline.

Life is about finding balance and being unselfish to your body. Respect the needs of your body and it will serve you well.

My Goals:
I want to be in a size 16/18 because I felt my most attractive and comfortable at that size. I have a large frame and do not want to be "skinny". I am always looking to improve my stamina and endurance. - Size goal attained in 2H11!

7/24/07 - I have worked up to regularly running 5k. I am currently in a 20 pants and 14-18 shirt!

My Program:
I go to the Wellness Center at St Elizabeth 4-5x per week. I do yoga, ballet, toning/cardio classes, cycling, running, and weight lifting.

I also enjoy yoga and use DVDs by Rodney Yee (Power Yoga), Sara Ivanhoe (20 Minute Yoga Makeovers), and Yourself Fitness.

I like to get exercise in practical ways when I can, like cutting the grass and shopping!

Personal Information:
I'm married with three cats. We all live in Texas along the Gulf Coast. I love it!

Other Information:
My biggest problem is portion control. It is a struggle everyday but I'm learning to stop eating when I am full.

My favorite stretches for running:
low lunge, kneeling hamstring stretch, pigeon, staff pose with flexing feet, seated wide-legged straddle with reaching, dancer pose, and half lord of the fishes. I love yoga for running.

Please never, ever do the "runner's stretch" where you kneel then sit on your calves. It does evil things to your knees!

Great job with the 2011 Gusher. It was my first 5K. I walked it and now I am hooked. I plan to run next year.

There are times in our lives when a diet may be easier than at other times. In times of stress or tragedy, it may be impossible for us to lose weight. Diets take concentration and commitment. Things may come up to cause us to fall away from our diets, but we need to get started again as soon as possible. Just because we fail once doesn't mean we will fail every time. Pray for God's help and guidance. He will be faithful to help us through the tough times and the times we fail. God will make our way easier through His companionship and comfort.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am totally inspired to greatness after reading your "running saga". I am starting the C25k tomorrow. I've been working at "becoming a runner", and don't feel like I am getting anywhere. I'm inspired by this program and looking forward to running my first 5K. OR FIVE....like you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the inspiration and the reminder that we can do what we set our minds too!!! Keep up the good work.
