One Day At A Time

Hi! I'm a 33 year old college freshmen and self proclaimed hippie. I've always been "not slender" and my Intention is to get healthier (and, yeah, hotter too:) I've recovered from a lot the last couple of years and it's given me the confidence to finally deal with my weight.

My Goals:
I am getting healthier on all levels.
I am dealing with life instead of coping.
I go to bed with an empty stomach to facilitate healing and rest.

My Program:
I am using awareness in the present moment to make choices about what and why I am eating and chosing other actions.

Personal Information:
1. my middle name is the one I write under, Elaine
2. I talk too much about too much
3. I see myself as a back-to-nature type, but I've never had a garden
4. I see myself as an independent woman, but I haven't been single in years (til now)
5. Terry Pratchet helped me find my sense of humor.
6. Stephen King helped me discover my honor.
7. Marion Zimmer Bradley helped me to be able to read between the lines of HIStory
8. I love to read
9. I need spellcheck
10. I have done a lot of successful work on myself
11. I have a lot of work to do on myself

Other Information:
I've always looked outside myself for validation: be it causes to fight for or against, a job to do well, an attraction to spark, a secret to be trusted with. I emerged from a recent fight for my life with the gift of desperation. I have a lazy nature, and it wasn't until I nearly lost my life that I realized this life is not only worth fighting for to keep, it's worth fighting to live it well. I'm not sure what end result I'm going for, but I know this is part of my journey there!

I read your latest blog and I'm going to add you as a friend, because we seem to be alot alike. I see-saw back and forth too, lately, especially since Thanksgiving! I've got to get into action if I'm going to reach my next goal! I know it sure helps me to know there are others in the same boat! Good luck to you in going in the right direction, like I hope to!! emoticon

Stage II seems like it might be brutal! I too am a grazer, and I didn't realize just how much I did graze. Haha, plus, my extra dashes of sauces or butter here and there makes some big differences! I am glad that I bought the SP cookbook, because it has some great ideas for packing in flavor without the calories. I've only tried a few recipes, but am definitely impressed!! Just remember, you are NOT alone! I keep having to tell that to myself that everyday, lol
